I think that's a little better, but it is very Hells Bells like. I don't think that's a bad thing, but if you don't want it, go different.

OK, one last time. I think I got it now. I went with a Fender Twin sound. This time, cleaner. The clean sound is little less brittle, even with a little bit of break up. I think I like it. I'm not really sure any more. Might have to give my ears a break.

I think this is better. Unfortunately, I can't delete the MP3 from the last post, but disregard that one.

first ones sounded like a dog with his balls on fire.....which is not a bad sound. :D This last one sounded like the flames got put out, but there was a bit of sting left. It still had some grit on it. I'd still clean it up just a tad more to give some room for the nifty solo stuff you are doing.

it's all cool.

:D

Awesome, thanx. Even cleaner? I like the touch of break up. Maybe I'll keep that sound but stick to my original idea, which was start clean and slowly turn up the gain as it goes on. Either way, the first sound had a crackle I didn't like. The second sound was too distorted for what I wanted. This third sound at least gives me something I can work with.

Thanx dudeski. :)

I like it all, the grit, the edginess, all of the versions. How about this?? When the solo stuff comes in clean it up a bit then. you'll get a bit more contrast between the parts.

As far as suggesting cleaner, I just meant a tiny wee bit. (any disagreements, see my sig. Says it all. :D)

RAMI,
yeah, I think that was it.
Greg,
ta, I didn't expect much for that $ but didn't want to miss a bargain if it was decent. There were no clips etc associated & the review I read were both way so though I'd seek the opinion of a connoisseur - hence the Q to you.

Yeah dude, I wouldn't steer you wrong on that one. Stay away from the MGs. They're okay to dick around with for fun at home, but recording or playing live with one? No.

Are you looking for a new amp?

Greg,
Not really, tha5t one popped up on a guitar, amps & effects page for swap or buy. I was attracted by the AUS$200 more than anything. If I decide to get a REAL amp I think it'll be through modding the Superbass.

Tone Gang.

I treated myself to a month long rental for my birthday last week. A Traynor IronHorse 40W Set head. I have had a desire to try more Canadian products in my music life just because i am turd like that. So i figured i would start with this little number. Here is a few pictures.

Front With Cage
Topside with out Cage
Boring ass backside

So, like the AD30 I have, it seems idiotically simple for a doorknob like myself, Gain , Bass, Treb and Master. Simple. Kind of just how i like it. But it has some cool little switches "Solo, Clean and Pure" Modes I think little stick must control . Two Inputs. Input 1 is rock and roll input, Input two is the kids are sleeping input. It has a switch for Fixed or Cathode Bias. Whatever the shit that even means? But just in tinkering with it i notice quite a bit of difference in the two modes.

That's about all i can tell ya for now. Going to set the mic up and grab some tone samples! See what this Syrupy Canadian 40 watt Marvel can put out through my Orange Cab. More to Follow.

I'm still fuckin' with the Reaper skin/theme, & thought I'd share a pic or two....Added a couple new track layouts (nothing special, & I know most folks won't use this, but still):

I'll give everybody's clips a listen this evening, I'm way behind here, gonna try to catch up & post a couple of my tones....

Dude, you have lost your freaking mind with all that mess. :D

Ok got a few noisey noises for you all.

So to baseline where i want to start searching i just set the amp up the middle all around. Gain, Bass, treble and the master are all at '5' or 12 Oclock or however you want to refer to it as. I did all three settings, Solo, Pure and Clean in each Bias position.

Les Paul Special, Bridge P90
Orange 412 V30's
SM57 positioned probably 90% over the cone 10% over dust cap, right on the grill.

Samples are here.

Clean Setting Fixed Bias
Clean Setting Cathode Bias
Pure Setting Fixed Bias
Pure Setting Cathode Bias
Solo Setting Fixed Bias
Solo Setting Cathode Bias

I don't have a clear front runner yet that i prefer. But my first assessment is that there might be a lot of room to work with with this little dude. Knowing my personal tastes though i may explore that pure setting a little more deeper.

I have no idea about that bias sorcery but my ear seem to favor the Fixed Bias. they feel like offer a bit more depth and warmth compared to that cathode bias? I dunno.

I didn't do any clean tones because i never ever use them. Ever. But if anyone is interested i can make some time to do demo some clean tones for this beeyatch?

I like the clean setting clips myself. They bark and bite but don't get too mushy. They all sound pretty good to me though. Interesting little amp.

I agree .... the two clean settings are best to me.

traynor has always made some good amps ..... even their solid state amps rocked.

Shan: I like the 1st clip better than all of 'em in this go-round, the others seem too mushy to me, but you might use a clean boost to tighten it up, just sayin'....First clip would be a really good rhythm tone for a song IMO dude....

And since I'm here, I did that Orange layout for you dude, I couldn't remember which model you have (AD30???), but it serves the purpose....If/when I ever get done fuckin' around with it, I'll send you (or anyone else for that matter) a copy of the theme if you want...
