Really? Wow, they sound thick as hell to me. But let's see how it is when I dial it in a little better.

Just listened again, & I think they're fine...They'd probably drop into a mix without much fuss at all...

You might have speakers fighting each other. I think that if you had all of one kind, or two-and-two, you'd have better balance from your cab. The G12-65 isn't that much different from the G12T-75 as far as bottom end goes. The 65 is just smoother overall. And your V30 and G12H30 are almost certainly raping the other two speakers for loudness. :D
Yeah, pretty sure that's what's going on dude...I probably need to move my cab into the center of the room, or at least out of that corner when I track/record...I bet where it's at (right next to a double-door closet) isn't helping any either...

I'd thought about using my 1x12's, but I don't wanna go back to the little cab thing, I'm sure they'd be ok, but it would still sound like a little cab, & I don't wanna go back to that at all....Being strapped for cash right now sucks, but on the bright side, I bought a bunch of cool gear last summer..:laughings:..I could probably trade some shit off for another cab, but not sure if I really wanna get rid of any of this stuff dude, even if I don't use it all...I'm just gonna play it cool, & do the best I can with what I've got for now...

Oh yeah, I'm gonna have to replace the lamp indicator on my Chupa too, it died on me today...I looked over & it wasn't working, so I'm gonna have to tear into it & fix it...I e-mailed Nik (Ceriatone), & he quoted me the parts for like $9, but the shipping is like 6 of that, so I'm gonna try to find what I need somewhere else to save a couple bucks & a little time...Should be a pretty easy fix though...

Oh yeah, meant to tell you Chuck (the drummer) finally got out of jail....he's on house arrest, so unless we play at his place, it's over, unless we find another drummer, which isn't very likely around here locally...I could drive an hour one way & probably get hooked up with a band if I really wanted to, but not sure I really wanna do that right now...Sure, I could use a little extra $$$ from a gig, but not sure if I wanna put up with the bullshit that comes with most musicians from around here...Guess it's like that everywhere, but where I'm from, they're fuckin' notorious...I used to be that way myself...:laughings:.

I really can't see me dragging my stuff up to Chuck's place & having to worry about the cops busting the door down then taking everybody to jail because of the shit that goes on at his place....not gonna happen with me....

To be perfectly honest, I'd forgotten how fuckin' nice it really is not to have to go to work everyday, while I'm barely gettin' by right now, it's awesome to not have to bust my ass on a daily basis....I know it's short-lived, & I'll have to go back eventually, but I'm having a fuckin' great vacation right now....:)

it's interesting how the lower gain of the two clips sounds so much brighter ...... I way prefer it to the higher gain clip

Lol. Crazy. What's the nearest big city to you? Move there. :D

Well, it's not really a "big" city, but Johnson City, TN (Kingsport, TN is a little closer, but smaller too)...Knoxville is a pretty big place, but it's like a 3-4 hour drive one way....

Nah dude, I'd be like a fish out of water in the city...I am gonna check the local scene out a little more to see what's up though....Like I mentioned, I can drive about an hour one way, & it's like a whole different world, but where I actually live, it's nothing but trees & hillbillies.....
Priceless.... :laughings:

How long is he on house arrest? :D

Yeah dude...lol...I'm really not sure to be honest, it's been an endless cycle of shit like this all his life man...I've known him since high school (we first met around '83-84 buying some pot at school from the same guy...:D.), & he's always been in trouble of some kind...To be honest, I don't know how he's kept from pulling some hard time with all the shit he's did....This house arrest may only be until he's finally/formally sentenced or whatever too, fuck I dunno man...I've never been in any kind of trouble at all, ever (knock on wood....), but this guy stays in some kind of shit all the time...

Greg,
It probably is fat & monstrous - my ears are ringing so much this last couple of days I can't guarantee I'm not in the midst of 1.000.000 cicadas or its raining heavily on the roof.
Too much listening to music with headphones!

Well guys, I think I'm just gonna sell my Lester, my Marshalls, everything....I've finally found the ultimate guitar rig, what more could a guitarist want??? I mean fuck man, it's got everything:

Here ya go minerman. Preorder yours today! Operators are standing by!

They are exactly what they look like - Marshall's answer to small-run company and "boutique" amp builders. I bet they actually will sound great...and will cost a bunch.
I actually like how they look BUT: They don't look like Marshalls.
If I'm gonna spend big money on a Marshall I want one the freakin' looks like a Marshall.

Haha, I agree. Looks do matter! Especially for regular people that go to rock and roll shows. To the average crowd person, that Marshall script means business. They don't know a JTM45 from a JVM410, but they know the Marshall logo means rock and roll is about to happen. Shit like that probably shouldn't matter, but it does.

While I don't really care for the look, I bet they do sound great, but I also bet they're fuckin' expensive as hell too...Not gonna lose any sleep over it because I'm pretty happy with the amps I have believe it or not...

Talking about the look, & people at gigs, I read a post in another forum that you'd love Greg....The guy said that when people show up at a gig & see the Marshall logo, they automatically think they're gonna hear buttrock...lol...I instantly thought of you dude...lol...

Just guessing, I bet these new amps are $2000 for a head version, probably way out of my price range...

That's a very common stereotype in the modern punk and indie community. A lot of the hipsters and garage noise bands don't want anything to do with Marshalls because of their connection to hairy glam shred shit of yesteryear. It's all dumb pseudo-punk hipster elitism. Like if you don't play junky pawn shop shit you're not cool. Or you have to play super boutique one of a kind amps and guitars that no one knows anything about, made by some guy in a hemp teepee in Oregon or something. These fucking idiots are all over the map. Me, I don't care. I like Marshalls, the guys I like played Marshalls, it's a no brainer for me. My boring ass Gibson and Marshall combination has been done a billion times, and I'll just be another one because it sounds awesome. If some 22 yr old hipster doofus thinks I'm old fashioned, then good. I'll fuck his mom in the ass while he watches and then wipe myself off in his lame hipster beard.

Okay, that was too graphic.

Anyway...I popped open these goofy 8x10 cabs to see what's inside.

This is the one I use with the band.

It's loaded with eight Carvin "Vintage Series" 10" speakers. 65 watts each! No wonder this fucker sounds so stiff.

The other cab looks idential, but it's loaded with a hodge-podge of Celestion G10L-35s, some no name things, and Pyle-Drivers? WTF?

I don't use this cab. It's just a stage prop LOL.

The cab I actually use has me a little confused. It's eight 8 ohm speakers. Okay, each quad is wired in series, and then each quad goes to the jack in parallel. So that's two speaker loads at what should be 32 ohm each, right? And two 32 ohm loads in parallel should be 16 ohm, right? This thing measures 4 ohms at the jack. I don't get it.

Anyway, here's some clips. One is the Carvin 10", one is a G12-65. Same guitar and amp. One sounds like ass, one sounds awesome. see if you can guess which one is which. :laughings:

Surely a Pyle Driver is what you'll be doing that hipster's mother.

That's a 520W cab, then! That's some big amp you'll be needing - was it meant for bass?

I like the 2nd clip of that last pair best - has more clarity to my ear.

Man what the fuck did I just walk into Greg? Thats some good shit right there

No, clearly those are not the original speakers. I don't know how, when, or why those speakers ended up in that cab. I've never been thrilled with the sound of the cab, but it's passable. These cabs are from sometime in the 70s, so they probably had some kind of Greenback variation or those G10L-35s like what's in the bastard cab. They look way cooler than they sound. I bet with some proper speakers they'd sound kick ass though.
