Do you use an attenuator for your Plexi?
Yeah I have a Hot Plate. Not bad as far as attenuators go but I like the tone better without it. Maybe I need a brick house. This stick built shack shakes like a fucker when the Plexi is on roar. lol

I'm just self-conscious enough not to set it up on the back deck and let distance absorb the hurt.

Haha do it. I've always wanted to record my drums out in a wide open field with no room or reflections.

I've had a "post phase inverter master volume" (PPIMV) installed on my Plexi 1959. It works well, same basic principle as an attenuator. With the PPIMV fully cranked, it's invisible to the circuit and the amp acts wide open as it should. Great sound, ungodly loud. The PPIMV will scale it back to TV volume, but it doesn't sound too good with the amp choked down that much. It's really only useful to make the amp gig/practice friendly and not blow small clubs apart; like an external attenuator would. The amp's tone stays well preserved until about halfway down the dial. Anything after halfway to the quieter side starts getting mushy and fizzy. At full band or wide open recording levels, the amp kills.

I wanna redo my cabs with some old school checker cloth and a medium logo like this one.

Does Jamfest still happen?
well, .. it didn't happen last year but it's a go for this one. Last weekend in Sept.
It's the ONLY time I've ever been able to crank my Mark V.
This time I'm gonna bring a couple of my old Ampegs and melt people's faces with combos!!
:laughings:

Haha awesome! I guess you're roadtripping it huh?

yeah I think so barring anything terrible happening.

I haven't been the last couple of years and it really was fun.
A covered stage in a valley where no one will tell you to turn down and no noise complaints regardless of time.
A bunch of musicians just jamming ..... no gig pressures ..... no audience to please except the families of the players.
Usually someone at the cooking station whipping up their famous what-ever-it-may-be.

It's actually a lot like what you say you prefer to gigging!

:D

Just a bump letting you guys know I'm still alive....I'll have 'net tonight, so I'll be able to listen & post some toans....Doing as well as can be expected, see you guys later....

what's going on with miner? I must have missed some calamitous event.

I'll let him answer you with specifics, but he's had some stuff going on. Hang in there minerman!

I haven't been posting much lately.........I've been very musically busy. Did a gig the other night with the Plexi in full stack mode. Oh my god. So awesome. This was a pretty large room, big stage, so I got with the soundguy before soundcheck to discuss some stuff about loudness and miking. Then we did soundcheck, and with everyone else mic'd through the mains, we decided to not mic my rig and just crank it. Needless to say, it filled the room with a glorious noise. It was the most wonderful guitar playing experience I've ever had.

Gonna have some new songs coming up soon too. Been tweaking some drum stuff and tracking with the Plexi and JCM 800. Righteous. :D

:)

That's how we did it back in the day and it is better!
That's a cool soundman who could see that it would work like that. I know you were happy as hell with that tower of power flapping your shorts!

Well mostly happy. This new drummer is a basket case. He's pretty good at practice, and then the shit hits the fan live. I have no more patience for that.

Well, let's just say I'm single again dude, pretty much, found out some shit I'd been suspecting for a while, so, I beat feet, & I'm going through a divorce..........Still no 'net acess where I'm living right now, but, it's cool, I can still stop in once in a while to say howdy......Doing ok (actually pretty good now....), but just different...Still working on the album when I have time, but time's sparse for me through the week......

Just lettin' my buddies know I'm still alive & kickin'.....hopefully, the days of the 'lil amps are over too, I'm hoping this summer (which ain't that far off), I'll have the JVM I've been drooling over for so long.....

Got a lot of shit to do still yet, but I've came a long way in a short time.....I'll stop back in in a day or so, haven't forgotten about our thread, just life keeps me pretty fuckin' busy these days.....

Keep on keepin' on Minerman.
A full tilt tube amp is a thing of beauty that will fill your head with a buzz that will keep any worry at bay.
Greg,
Yes, yes, yes! Give the soundman the tick & the drummer the flick.
Really? He gets the squirts or something playing live? I used to have a memory block that was easily fixed: I'd tape a sheets with chord charts for all the songs in the set to my amp & once it was there I wouldn't need it. If it wasn't there I'd be a mess until about the third song.

Thanks guys!!!! It's been pretty tough, but I'm makin' it, & things are gettin' easier.....

Greg: Check your pm's man.....

Gotta run!!!!

it'll be alright ..... I've been divorced ...... didn't really phase me much. If we were right together we wouldn't have gotten divorced so once we were at that point I didn't give a crap.
Couldn't have met the awesome wife I have now if I hadn't divorced that first maniac.
