they're really pretty easy ...... once you get the basics you kinda have it.Looking at schematics is tough for me, but having my amp cracked open and comparing it to the schematics has already got the ball rolling.

I used "large chamber" for that song.

Full dry, -19.4 db wet. It's a big reverb, but I just use a little of it. I like "wide chamber" too. It's humongous, but just use a little. I personally don't want to hear tails and decay on reverb. I like the sound of drums in a big space, but I don't want to hear it in the mix. Reverb to make things gel and add dimension is good to me. It has to be balanced though. I don't like big reverb tails on drums but the guitars and everything else is dry.
Of course every scenario is unique and you do what you gotta do to get the sound you want and all that, but I'd never compress after reverb. Not drums anyway. I pretty much always do everything the same way no matter what it is - tone shaping > dynamic processing > space. That would mean EQ > compress > reverb/delay. Sometimes EQ and compression can be switched, but space always go last. Compressed reverb sounds crap unless you're just going for that sound. On big springy surf guitars it can sound cool, but for drums...no.Thanks dude, just goes to show, I've got too much shit to pick/choose from....I was using a different impulse & thought it was one of 'em you'd sent, it wasn't....I had it set up pretty much the same way (I had the ReaVerb wet slider at "0", but the track fader at -20...pretty much the same result though...)...I also tried a compressor, but I put it after the 'verb....
I've been reading the marshall forum. It's a mess. Every tech thread devolves into internet experts arguing with each other. I'm getting good info elsewhere, and it's all making more and more sense. On the amp thing Greg, I was gonna mention there are a lot of guys in the Marshall forum that know a lot of stuff, but then I remembered that Bob is basically a tech, so there's no need for you to go there really....Good luck & keep us informed on your progress dude, you never know, might have to ask you guys something someday...
since I haven't gotten around to fixing the Blue Angel yet I used my Mark V for a band gig last night ..... geez that's a great amp.
Even on the hi-gain channel it still had great note definition ...... you could even play chords and hear the notes ...... there was a lot of gain and yet it almost sounded clean in certain contexts ....... I was pretty gob-smacked by it.
Sure do wish I got to do more band gigs.
And I recorded last night so I may have some clips later ....... right now wifey and I are headed for Hogwarts.
nah ...... it's over at Universal. Regardless of our money we treat ourselves to season passes @ Disney if we can but this year we went for Universal 'cause it's cheaper. Is Hogwarts a euphemism for something nasty?
Yes, please post up some clips!
Yeah those drums sound much better. I like that snare sound. That actually sounds like a real snare. A little donky, got a little snap from the wires, nice pop. Maybe keep cycling through kick sounds though. That one isn't bad at all, but believe it or not, it sounds a little too natural. Too raw, unfinished. It's a little boxy. Look for one with just a little bit deeper punch, but don't go crazy with it.Ok, since I haven't recorded any guitar tones in a while, I figured I'd just post a clip of the shit I've been working on....They're far from finished, but I'm making progress...I think...Gonna give the Gerg a big thanks for helping me along the way with my drum programming & sounds, who'd be better than a good drummer to ask for advice??? Anyway, lemme know what you guys think, maybe I can wrap these songs up before too much longer...
FWIW, I know there are spots where the guitars/bass are out of time with the drums, they're just scratch/guide tracks until I re-track 'em (in time with the "new" drums...), & there's probably a lot of shit I still need to fix drum-wise, but again, I'm making progress...I think......
The signal chain for the guitars is:
LP > DSL-1 > T-75 > '57 & C1 mics

It's our Christmas present to ourselves because we actually use the crap out of them.
During slow seasons we go a lot .......
And I'm gonna check out the tapes to see if they were any good or not in a moment. lol@ tapes ....... it's funny how that word still gets used even though no one uses tapes.
Thanks for listening yet again Greg, I went through most of my sounds/samples, & to me, those fit best compared to what I'm trying to achieve...I figured that snare would do it, I had a couple in "the list" that were just too "pingy" for me, that one seems to have about the right balance...On the kick, yeah, I've got a shit-load of different ones man, it'll just take me a little time to find "it"...LOL...Yeah those drums sound much better. Are you able to use outside samples? Like if I sent you some hi-hat hits, could you use those? Cuz those open hats are still killing me. Lol. The closed hats sound is great. You've done a nice job with dynamics and varying tip/shoulder sounding hits on the closed hats. The open hats are just too robotic. The Tssssssss is just too perfect. I've never heard real hats sound that precise and consistent with every hit. They just don't do that. If you want I can mic my hats and see what we come up with. For the record - my hi hats are fucking killer. I aint even gonna pretend to be modest about it. Lol. Paiste 2002 15" Sound Edge. Best hats on the planet. If you like Phil Rudd, John Bonham, or Alex Van Halen, you like these hi-hats.
yeah ...... I've seen a similar protection in some Peavey speakers ..... you'll see a light flashing inside the cab when there's too much juice headed for the speaker. This one looks cool.I did come across a cool homemade gizmo using a light bulb that absorbs short circuits before something goes poof! Pretty cool. I'll be building one of these too.
Bad finger was a cautionary tale about the music biz.Yup, good tones. I'm not too big a fan of 70s arena rock type stuff, but they had awesome tones.
I'm tryin' man ..... I'm tryin' ...........Good luck El Tee. Break a leg.
