Speaking of "where's Minerman?", where's RAMI? Did her just disappear, or did I miss something?

JDOD - is good, pray continue.
Rami? Banned? I didn't notice anything untoward happening. Seems accurate advice and a minimal patience with the duplicitous & fools is on the short list.

Hey guys, thanks for checkin' on me over here, I'm still alive, just been under the weather again & haven't felt like doing much of anything...I'll get caught up on the clips & may post a tone or two of my own...Thanks again everyone!!!

Did he get banned for something in the mp3clinic?
I didn't know he was banned. The clinic is an easy place to get into a rift that could result in a banning. People, who know very little will ask for critique on recordings that are poorly recorded and mixed. Then when someone knowledgeable, like Rami, tells them what's wrong with it they argue. I've always had a thick skin and welcomed "Your shit sucks and here's why" critique. Sadly, most are thin skinned and just want to be told how great their stuff is....when it's not that great.

I have great respect for Rami. He has posted some of the best sounding home recordings ever posted on this sight. Ditto on greg. those 2 guys are pretty far ahead of the pack IMO.
Both have really been helpful to me and have answered questions that has helped me make wise equipment buying decisions and improved my skills.
Me and Greg have had our jabs at each other in off topic forums but he has always put that aside when it comes to answering serious questions about recording. Rami has given me great advise and recording tips as well.
I really think Rami has a lot to offer this website and it sucks that he is banned.

That's not too bad. I don't care for the reverb on the guitars. That one sounds like the amp's in a tile bathroom.

haha, I'm not sure about that myself - they sound better in the mix - they slap quite a lot when you listen to them solo'd. Here's the full mix.

There's a touch more 'verb on the hard panned rhythms than the more centred leads.

Sounds pretty good Jdude, I agree the reverb could be different, but it's still good....Vocals for this dude???

Cool song man, this'll make a cool project when its finished. Listening on a consumer 5.1 system, and it all sounds fine to me. This system seems to flatter a lot of music, and I listen to it a lot. So I may not be super-discerning here, but I think it sounds great. Guitars sound good to me, especially once things pick up in the latter half. That amp seems to be really comfortable with that kind of playing. It's a little raw on the palm muted parts. I'd bet that you'd be really happy with a closed-back cabinet some day...they really do a good tight palm muted thing.

Cheers, Tad. I've really gotta start making some effort to finish some bits off soon - I added this to my note-pad of "finished pre-vocal tracks" yesterday - there's a shit load of them, >20 now and I've only finished lyrics for 5 of them.

Greg, was just thinking, that excessive re-verby thing on the leads could be due to the lead being all double tracked - or were you thinking about the rhythms.

I was reading a (long) post in the mixing clinic the other day where Andrushkiwt said he does 12 takes of the vocals for a song, then does a couple more bits where he wants to try other things and then picks the best bits out of that! I've never done anything like that many takes!

JDOD,
Sounds pretty good. It is aching for a melody though.
Your drum programming is coming along nicely as well.

The rhythms. I don't mind big or weird reverbs on leads.

Yeah and then he probably autotunes it? Lol. Whatever. Doing a million takes and piecing something together is fine if that's what you want to do. It's called comping and it's been done forever. I think it's pretty silly with today's editing capabilities. I mean, it's super easy to precisely just punch in and crossfade one note or syllable if you want to, but whatever. To each his own. For some people, whatever they think a good result is is all that matters.
