I currently record my sequences from a Yamaha sy77 and two other synths and vocals to a Tascam 564 digital portastudio. I'm getting the Cakewalk Pro 8.0 program to do sequencing, but I think that it will also record vocals or instrument tracks (is that right)? I currently connect to my computer with a Soundblaster soundcard via the regular 5-pin midi in & out cables. Two questions:
1. How do you connect a mic to the computer to record to Cakewalk, or is there a way to record thru my 564 as a mixer? (or do I even need to do this?)
2. Does the the Tascam CD-400 CD Burner connect directly to the computer, or do you have to connect from each synth involved in a Cakewalk sequence to the CD-burner somehow? (When I sequence now using my Yamaha sy77 via it's on-board sequencer, I connect the 1/4" phone jacks from the synths I have connected to the sequencer to the 564 to actually record the sounds of the sequence, not just a connection from the sy77 which is the sequencer.) I know this might be basic stuff to someone else, but I'm a few years behind the technology when it comes to sequencing and recording at home.
