I'm having strange and very frustrating issues with audio files in Cubase 15 pro.
Lets say that I have an audio track in my project. Upon playback I realize that there is some flaw in this file. Either I forgot to crossfade two sections and there is a pop, or maybe there is an unknown noise in the quiet part between the vocal. So, I fix those things and reexport it out of cubase and I save it as the same name.
What's happening is... when I drag this fixed version of the file back into the project, usually onto the same track, Cubase STILL plays back the original file, even though, that is not the file I'm seeing the sequencer, on the track? I'm seeing the new, fixed iteration of that audio file on the track but It's like Cubase saved a file that goes by that file name and it plays THAT original file back, no matter what I'm seeing in the sequencer/track. How do I stop this? It's driving me crazy.
Furthermore. There's even more confusing behavior.
I exported a fixed audio track out as a new audio file into a download folder on my desktop. This was exported as a MONO file. Once again, upon export, I gave it the same name that it had before I fixed it, as I want to replace it and i want it to have the same name, like Lead Harmony 1. If I drag this new, fixed file back into the project, putting it where the original was, it loads and comes into fine as a MONO file.
However. I moved that same file from one folder on my desktop into another folder on my desktop. Now... when i drag that same file into the cubase project FROM THE NEW WINDOWS FOLDER, Cubase places that mono file onto the track as a stereo file. How on earth does that happen. The track in the project is still a MONO track. I've not put the file through any processing or changes, I've just moved it from one folder to another folder. It's like once I move the file from one windows folder to another windows folder, it changes how Cubase interprets that file when I drag it into the project. What's going on here? This is so crazy!
