Tascam 688 help!!!

Hello there.

I recently bought a tascam 688 for 200pounds and there is little to no info on the net anymore! The overload light is permanently lit on channel 7. I can hear what has been recorded coming through distorted and faint in the background. The channel does seem to work when getting a level. Is there a way of re-setting the overload light on the machine? I realise this maybe a few years too late but i am getting desperate!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about the 688 but a quick searck on google found the manual.
