Synching causing pops?

Hey, you might be familiar with my last thread about pops and clicks if you peruse these pages often. I solved most of the popping by moving my UAD-1 to a separate IRQ from my Delta 1010lt. There are still, however, pops and clicks (just not very many).
Here's what I'm thinking, my soundcard is set to lock to the incoming SPDIF signal from my Focusrite Octopre. I did not hook them up via the wordclock connection on the 1010 also. Should I? Would this reduce the pops? I've always been unclear on the purpose of Word Clock. Do you use it when you're hooked up with any/all digital I/O? Thanks.

i dont know if this will help you, but ive posted many many times on reasons for pops/clicks and other anomolies over the past year.
just search under my name.
heres what i would suggest as a test bed. take the output of the mic pre
(forgetting about spd/dif) into audio input of delta, and record tracks.
tell me if you still get pops/clicks. this will be a clue to me. peace.
