That is exactly the point - In all these ______ vs. Neumann examples, the Neumanns sound more "open" or just plain "real". But, you don't always want "real". Sometimes you want an "in your face" kind of sound and quite frankly, Neumanns don't do that very well, at least not from the examples I've heard. SM57s and RE20s OTOH do.
