All that I've read, so far, has helped me out alot. Thank You. I'm only asking these questions is because I'm just trying to update from a $40 mic from Radio Shack.

Do you not agree the U87ai and TLM-103 are the worst mikes Neumann makes? Now, U47's, 67's, old U87's are wonderful mikes. They have their applications just as many other mikes do, but they are weak in the low end, and have to be EQ'd at 80hZ, and then again on the top end. Sure, they have their applications, as does my mikes, but those models are are perhaps the worst mikes Neumann has made.
So, please, do not twist what I say Mr. Flip Flop....

I remember about a year ago Harvey Gerst saying he pretty much leaves his Neumann T-103 setup in his studio most of the time, and even used it for many of his mic comparing examples.

No, I think they are great mics and so do tens of thousands of pros and non pros on this planet. Every pro studio in the world has at least one.

I may be out of line here....but um Alan...you may want to quit while you're ahead, before you say something you regret. I know DJL has attacked you in the past, but saying things like "perhaps you were beat or rapped by your father as a young boy" is completely uncalled-for and offensive to everyone on the board. You make good microphones, almost everyone (with some notible exceptions) likes your products. There's no need to get so defensive. I liked it better when you just gave honest and helpful answers to people that had questions/comments/problems with their SP/Toft/JM/GD products. And, I have to admit that DJL does have a point when he refers to the fact that you represent your company. If you have a problem with DJL, fine, understandable, but you may not want to post insidious remarks in a public forum....

One natural reading of "Our mics are as good as any German mic" is "No German mic is better than our mics". Now, this could be true if there are mics worse than his mics (e.g. the U87ai), but also, other German mics which are just as good as his mics.
So, I don't see any inconsistency in his statements.
Whether those statements are true (as opposed to consistent with each other) is quite another matter, and not one that I'm competent to have an opinion on, given that I've never used a Neumann mic.

I'd tell everyone more about me except Alan Hyatt and his gang wants to beat me up. If you read this thread it's mostly about what people think about Studio Projects mic (except for some sick slander and etc) and I posted those other two post to this thread because it's good info to know...
