It's interesting how this thread turns out to be this 10k setup instead of 2k. It's even more interesting that I can't find most of the people who posted here on this site with mp3 samples. No offence against anyone here, but I really want to hear what everyone does with their $x,000 setup and see how the qualities actually differ from each other. Cuz we are seeking for the sound after all, right??

I haven't had any recent material to post. I'm playing in a new band.. Man it is so refreshing to find a guiiatrist that can actually play in standard tuning! I have been so sick of dropped tunings that it isn't funny.

As soon as I get some new recordings finished (we're in preproduction for a CD, and my Soundcard has died a slow death. I'm trying to decide on what kind of card to get. I'm thinking about just one of those "Mastering" cards that Musician's Enemy sells for $200, but my guitarist is pushing me to go with protools so that we can have complete control in the mixing stage.

I posted some stuff way back when.
Here are the threads.

Tim B.

I tried to listen, but those links to ur mp3s no longer work....

Card wise, I don't know ur setup, but you might wanna look into cards with more inputs for drum tracking, or tracking the whole band at the same time.

Argh!!

Evidently Homestead deleted my account! Crap!

Well, I'cve been looking at one of the MOTU units that would allow me to dump 16 tracks at once from my DA-38's through a set of TDIF cables....essentially I'm just looking at using the PC for the backend of recording so that my mixdown stage is all digital....even though I'm not that fond of mixing with the mouse.

I guess I'll need to set up a new page somewhere to post audio files again.

Gosh, another gear shootout!

...anybody know where I could get my 1978 Radio Shack stereo condenser mic fixed? I paid $30 for it and it oughta lasted more than 20 years.

ol men sometimes have away of being close minded and chastizing change and improvements. When i'm old maybe anything brilliant will rub me the wrong way too, but for now I'll appreciate creativity in all forms. your my elder so I didn't disrespect. I had a dog 12 years old I finally taught to roll over, if you can teach an old dog new tricks well..........

Al, thanks for listening. That's funny. Those drums (though midi - very astute) were actually triggered by a drummer playing a Drum Kat controller.
Since then, I've bought some new gear (Delta 1010, several mics) and live drum recording has been my main focus. Ain't nothing like the real thing.

Hey, Chuck:
I hope you still read this thread cuz I have been feeling like a fool for what I've said about the drums in mix. I was listening on a tinny set of PC speakers when I said they sounded MIDI, but several months later, I listened again with my monitors at higher voulme, I had realized that I've made a fool of myself saying the MIDI thing...Your mix sounded good as hell!!!!

Tim Brown:
I have checked out your tunes, but not to turn this huge thread into a mp3 review thread, post it in the MP3 forum, and I will definitely be there :)
