I am still a newbie, I have a small 10 watt amp that I am micing with a shure sm57 going to the crystal wdm sound card in my HP Pavillion, I have samplitude recording and have made several multi-track recordings but when coupled together make a horrible hiss worse than tape! how can I get rid of it? thank you

Hey shem, I would first try to find the source. My guess would be the amp. Try turning down the treble a bit. If this is not the answer, I would try using eq or filter to try and get rid of it. I know this is not much help, but at least it might be a start.

Amps and puters tend to argue. Be sure the amp is as far away from the PC as possible. Furthermore it would probably suit you best to verify that the amp and computer are not plugged into the same circuit. Even if they are plugged into seperate outlets it is still possible they are on the same circuit, so if possible route the amps power from a different room. In addition if you sit within 10 feet of the puter while playing guitar your ax will put out a mess of hum.
Hope it helps.
