It's called "100% Chance of Rain" and can be found at

Feel free to critique either the recording or the song itself. I'd love to hear some opinions!

Thanks,
Jeff

Sounds like all acoustic using the internal MR-8 mic. If so , cool. Real full sound at 1: 39 with this technique. Have fun!! (The drummer should lay off the Jack Daniels though.)

peace,
flat-9

Actually, those are regular microphones in rooms with bad acoustics! And I'm playing all the instruments. As far as the drums go, I'm playing on the only set I have access to. The cymbals are about 20 years old and have probably never been cleaned. I'm also a very aggressive drummer so I broke a stick on that part and barely got through it in the first place. Otherwise, I definitely would have taken another crack at it. I have another version I've saved for when I can get to a better set. And I WISH I had access to some Jack Daniels! Thanks for listening!

Thumbs UP!

Cool tune! Sounds kind of like a Beatles tune!
Nothing bad to say,,, OK the drums went out a little, but ain't no-one perfect!
The sound is good too!
I like it!

I like this song!

cool changes, nice harmony. I agree about the Beatles influence..nothing wrong with that! Looking forward to hearing a version with a better drum sound. audio quality sounded just right on this end.

Yeah, nice song. Also I liked the harmonies. Would be worth experimenting with double tracking the vox (or copying vox tracks - there's been plenty of sound advice on these techniques here recently). Are you sure you only broke one drumstick?

Jeff,
I liked it too! Sounded like a straight Paul Mac influence at first but then the Lennon influence came out. Nice songwriting.

Jeff,
listened to the song and really liked it. The only thing I will say as far as critiquing is maybe to put some kind of reverb or something on the master channel to kinda mesh everything together better. This might be accomplished by using better mics also.

Thanks

Thanks a whole lot for the comments, everyone. My biggest influences are the Beatles and Ben Folds so all of those comments have brought a big smile to my face. I also appreciate all the constructive criticism about the recording and will definitely use it if I ever get around to this song again.

Jeff

P.S. It's really hard to drum in 3/4 time...

no it's not.

Furthermore, that drum tracks is in 6/8 time.

Oh, man... that's an argument you don't wanna start. I've seen threads on message boards in heated debate on whether there is even a real difference between 3/4 and 6/8. They're really the same until you get down to putting it on paper and then it's just easier to write it in one or the other depending on the tempo.

Nice tune. Very Beatles sounding. Kind of weak sounding in the beginning, but it builds nicely.

If it was hard to drum in 3/4 Time, there would be very few that could do a Blues Shuffle. LOL
