My friend and I wrote this song on the spot today. I felt like coming here and getting some suggestions on what you think about the song.say whatever youd like.i think the vocals sound much better than the guitar and a little louder .. id like your opinion and maybe tips. thanks.

Thanks .. I like making music with him. That was recorded both at the same time. I need to get a better acoustic sound. I agree though , i think its worth a recording done right. thank you.
 
Mxl 990 and 991 to audio buddy to audiophile2496.

i recorded the vox with the 990 and guitar with the 991. the guitar sounds real muddy.i need a more crisp sound , especially for such a song at a fast paced. i cant have all those lingering waves. at least thats what i think.

Ya might wanna try putting the mic a little closer to the guitar sound hole.
Not sure if you mic has a bass roll off, but if it does, make sure it isn't off.
Sounds thin. I had a Yamaha that sounded pretty bad live but was able to get some pretty decent tone for recording.

keep at it! You have a good voice and cool song!
 
Nice song erock--Nice chord progression.Got the Goo goo dolls going here.The guitar sounds out of tune--just a tad...
I generally--with exception to my last post--record with my condenser aimed at where the neck joins the body--distance I will experiment with.I usually record another track DI thru a processor and than pan.
 
Alright , some good suggestions. I think im going to try and record a better guitar track after school. I'm the one playing guitar and my friend is singing. I actually couldnt sing when playing that gutiar part , go figure. Thanks for the input , when i get the track recorded , i will put it up in this post and hopefully see some improvement.
 
Good on you, keep it going. Sounds like Matchbox 20 or something like that. Have you got any shakers or anything you could chuck on there for percussion?
 
Thanks. I think we're going to just have clapping for a bit of percussion right now. If we ever play live , id like to be capable of playing our song the way it is on the recording.

Now to record a bit nicer guitar.

i put the same song with what sounds to be a bit better guitar track. when the singing comes in , it gets crappy just cause his vox have the old guitar in the background. I miced my acoustic with one over shoulder mic and one 12th fret mic. It sounds ... okay.not quite what im looking for yet. your thoughts please.
