i've just seen on another thread saying something about a company called thomann who make their own versions of the sm57 called t.bone mb75. can anyone tell me if this is a good mic cos i'm after a good instrument mic for as cheap as possible. also are their t.bone sc300 condenser mics any good?

thanks

simon

I disagree. They both are equally good but they sound totally different. Let me look up a thread that compares them.

Why can't you get a real SM57 for $90? Or a beer-soaked used one for $50?

i get really clean used ones for $50-65. No beer on mine..

and its $100 now, with a free tshirt.. woop dee doo for the tee shirt. cant even pick your size....

and the i5 is definitley not the same.

i doubt i could use ANY audix mic as a hammer.

We guarantee it 100%! If for any reason you don't think this mic sounds as good or better than the Shure SM57 we will give you a full refund!]

thats a tough guarantee. can they really live up to that?

They do, in fact, sound pretty damn good. Different, but as good if not better (they tend to have less of that SM57 mid-range "honk").

You are right they do sound different...not "totally" as you put it, but different.

BUT, they have similar frequency responses, and the i-5 was MADE as a copy of a "57"...so I chimed in on this thread. Recently, I used both on a record...taped together so the capsules were pretty much picking up the same things....I preferred the i-5 on the snare throughout the album....I also preferred it on one of the two guitar players cabs...IMO it is a little brighter and not quite as muddy as a 57.

the es is ok, i use on toms, cheap enuf to have a backup handy. for snare, still use my sm-57. 2 es-57 go thru audio buddy, so do i care how great they are? no, but they are solid
