yea, thanks very much, and so quick!
I'm currently converting and outside metal garage into a studio, and found some plans off the sae website. ive been doing my home work on absorbers, bass trapps and so on but never come across slot resonators before. if you or anyone else has any suggestions on what i'm doing it would be muchly apprieciated..
i don't have any personal experience using these slot resonators, but from what i understand, they are used as absorbers, but also function to break up the parallel walls to act as sort of a diffusor so the echoes in a room don't just keep bouncing back and forth. i also understand that they are a pretty effective method of room treatment. perhaps someone with a bit more experience on the subject can help you a little better.
The way I understand it, Slot resonators are like Helmholtz resonantors where you can "tune" them to absorb certain frequencies. By using the corrected formula on John Sayers forum http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1363 you can use different depths and space to tune for particular problem frequencies. The depths can also be varied to be more broad spectrum. I would however like to see some actual photos or plans for slot resonators, as I am still unclear about their construction. i.e. are the slots built over a sealed unit? or is the insulation material and air space the only absorber.
