Slackmaster2K

Gone
The rules were:

3 hours, 3 one minute songs/clips/remixes, computers only. Anything goes.

Not really a contest...just some fun. Here are the results:

Ametth:

Slackmaster2k:

Enjoy.

Slackmaster 2000

First impressions:

Number One: Art of Noise
Number Two: Broken Saints (ww.brokensaints.com)
Number Three: Did Slack Get This With A Cranked Pre From Rubbing Live Cables Together?

One: Ammeth is wearing a bandana.
Two: ALRIGHT! More sexy chick voices...
Three: Yup, this is the Whatever Off.

;)

Dig 'em.

i like number 3 and the beginning of nirvana followed by a gunshot:)

Clearly Ameth wins.

Why?

Slackmaster's Number1 and Number3 are not 1 minute, but are 0:59 and 0:54 respectively. Both are in clear violation of rule 2.

Queue :D

Whatever...

Queue, those technicalities only apply to Democrats, not musicians....and your vote doesnt count because you capitalized "ameth"....:D

all 6 clips were very creative and quite good.....but :

ameth's #1 rocked

Slack's #1 rocked (very Van Halen Hot 4 Teacher-ish drums at the beginning accomplishing the sounds of him slamming his woman)

you guys have balls the size of boulders for taking on a challenge like that....well done....

where are the original rules? im not turning up any matches in the search option.

Gidge piously pointed out...and your vote doesnt count because you capitalized "ameth"....

Well Gidge,
NOW you've gone and disqualified yourself, cuz it seems that you and I (and even Slack) left out the second t in ametth! :D

Scriabin - the rules are in the first post...

I liked 'em all...

I always wanted a Swede with big ol' titties....oh well, 1 out of 2.....

I think I've deduced the underlying structure of this game.

Produce 3 consecutive drstawl tunes:

(No rules and you're not gonna spend more than an hour defining it.)

In three consecutive one hour sessions that are each one minute in length.

Man- I feel so left out....... :)

Actually I'm glad because I have no way to certify that I've done this in the alotted time frame. BTW how did you do that?
Just a friendly competition? That's cool.

You both produced some impressive works.

ametth: That Ice Tea rap shit doesn't work. But the vocals at the end of "Two" make up for it. The chopping could've been more coherent but that would've taken some time. Not a choice under these competition conditions. And I did pick up on some derivative action from tune to tune. Technically in a speed .wav contest you've got to provide three distinct seed actions.
Can I make this shit up as I go along or what?

Slack: Number One is some serious Montana Bebop! Number two has a pretty sweet piano patch moving on to a very cool synth overlay. It almost meows. Number Three grabbed a big hunk from the 2001 soundtrack but otherwise was cleanly executed. As already mentioned in replies, I'll have to deduct for your timing inaccuracies. One minute is 60 seconds, not 59 or 54. Sorry. :)

Doc, we were both on IM and matthew had just posted his two most recent electronic experiments (which people should listen to). I suggested that we should have a little contest...and so we agreed on terms. We were both online with eachother the entire time.

The results were pretty interesting...totally different approaches. Matthew sampled a lot of stuff from various sources, I especially liked the mixture of Tool and Radiohead in his first one. I sampled some sex sounds and the beginning of Rape Me but for the most part just used sounds that I already had....trying to do a composition in my second one was a big mistake...it just takes too long and one minute isn't a lot of time to work with.

I think I like matthew's second one the most out of all 6. Definately a lot of character.

Next time we'll invite you to kick our asses...but you'll have to install MSN IM :)

Hey Doc: Funny you should mention the "Ice T" shit in number one. It's actually Busta Rhymes, but that neither here nor there. After I made it, I was telling slack how much it sucked!!..No offence to people who like it, but I dont. I got more into the groove on the second and third ones..I think. I know what you mean about the chopping thing..I've since fixed it, because I heard it too, but I didnt have time to fix it. So Doc, INTSALL IM so you can mop the floor with us!! :)

I really had fun with this and I think it was interesting how our approches were way different, and I really enjoyed listening to what Slack made up.
