Hi, all
I've been thinking of putting together a relatively cheap (under $500? please?) setup for recording live gigs... Basically, my fiancee plays a number of jams and sits in on other people's gigs quite often and I'd like to get a recording done of some of those.
The problem is, of course, that I won't have access to the mixer or to the amps on the various instruments to record. These are, however, mostly very small gigs, so I figure I can get away with something fairly simple.
I'm thinking either a decent tape deck or a DAT, but what sort of mic should I use? I think I can assume I have AC, but if being able to run on batteries would be prefered.
I guess what I'm looking for is the same sort of thing that people who bootleg concerts use. Of course, I've got permission from the bands to record them... I'm a good boy, I am.
