Hey guys! Of course that's not my studio! (I'm a home recording looossser!)

That would be Goldenworks.. a new one recently opened outside of Helsinki Finland. If I had a console like Timo's I wouldn't be worried about a Lava lamp now would I? ;)

Goldenworks can be found HERE

Hey AdrianFly - Sorry I didn't mean you were a looossser... I was talking about The Seifer..

Sorry I wasn't more clear on that..

:)

I use this for programming drums.
Being a drummer, I found it really unnatural to program by tapping on a keyboard or clicking that mouse, so I went out and got an SPD-20 percussion pad. Bought a Tama cymbal stand, LP hardware, and rigged the "snare" and "hi-hat" pads.

I call it the poor-man's V-Drums.

how did you rig the pads?could you explain how you wired it up

In a thread titled "Show Off YOUR Studio", why would you show a picture of someone else's?

He's doing pretty much what my drumkit is...

The 8-pad unit is a Roland Octapad, which has eight pads on it. On the back of the unit there are jacks for 6 or 8 more pads, depending on the vintage. These pads, internal or external, in turn send midi data about volume, velocity, and pitch, so your drum machine which receives this information (or your computer for recording midi data), plays accordingly.

In place of the Octapad, I use a Roland PM16, which has no pads, but 16 inputs and a jack for a high hat open/close pedal. This allows me to use two used dirt cheap ebay simmons kits of many different colors, as one huge midi drum kit. Same thing, just older, and bigger.

For years I've debated purchasing a nice Roland V-Drum system, but for $2500 and up, I'd rather buy car parts or fancy tools :)

So how do the kick and hihat pedal get sampled? What is the sensing device?

The Octapad and PM16 are just trigger to midi converters.

Hit a pad, and the midi note assignment gets transmitted to whatever is on the other end of the cable, usually a drum machine or a sampler.

And, you're not obliged to have a drum machine, you can trigger loops, samples, horn hits, heck, even use a midi to light controller and have lights blink!

The setup he (and I) have, is really just pad to midi triggers. What you do on the other end is up to you.

The SPD-20 has inputs for external triggers, for KD-7 and FD-7 (Roland kick and hi-hat triggers).

The internal sounds are decent, not too bad for what I do.
I also have the SRX Studio drums cars on the XV-5080, and Battery/DFH.

Did I answer your questions?

Please Will You all Post Your Studio Pics i need to nick idea he he

Dual monitors?

I just noticed one of the studio pics had dual monitors. What is the purpose for this?

Dual studio monitors or dual computer monitors?

If you are referring to the dual studio reference monitors, they are there so that I can get a good idea of what the material sounds like on varied systems.

One might be able to create a very nice mix on a set of speakers, but that same mix might sound like complete garbage on someone's home stereo or car stereo.

I have the Event 20/20's for my day to day mixing and the Yamaha NS-10's for making sure things sound good on speakers with a completely different response curve.

Bruce (Blue Bear) has (at least) two sets of monitors too... you just can't see one set because they are soffit mounted.

If you are referring to the computer monitors... that gives someone more real estate to use for their DAW... for example, put effects parameters on one screen and the tracks on the other screen etc.
