Hi Everybody,

I am a complete beginner so please treat me gently.

I have watched the help vidio on the installation CD and can now record, from say a microphone, without too much of a problem...

My question is ... How do I see the wave form as I am recording?

The only clue that I am actually recording is the red bars, at the botton of my screen, are jumping about... I would like to see the wave form.

I guess that I have not checked some box or other.

Your help .... in none too technical terms ... is requested.

Please add this to above

Hi Everybody,

I omitted to say that I wish to see the wave form when recording in the 'Edit' mode.

Sorry about that

If you've got your mic or guitar hooked up right (so that the signal's going to the soundcard), and if you've got your Cool Edit settings right (so that Cool knows which channel of your soundcard to record to), then when you click on 'Record', you will instantly and automatically see the waveform being created - in Edit View if that's where you are, or in Multitrack View, if you choose to record there, which is more common.

So, what happens when you click 'Record'?

There is a box to check somewhere in the options. Using CEP1.2a it is:
"options > settings > general > live update during recording" and also check "options > settings > general > auto-scroll during play and record"
