Anyone used an e609 for mic'ing a guitar amp?
Guitar Center recommended them over an SM57 Sure. Said people were really starting to buy them and they have received several favorable reports. I bought 2 of them for $99 each. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.

I personally prefer them to the 57 on amp, but I'm not a big fan of the 57 to begin with.

I have two also, and I like em. WAY better than a 57, work decent on high and mid toms, too. Great mic for the price, and looks purdy.

how does it compare to the 57 on a more expensive pre-amp or something like the rnp? u tried the rnp with the 57 tubedude?

I have 2 also, i think they are better then 57's wich is what i used to use.

I like the e609 better on rock guitar, but the 57 sounded better on a downtuned thrashy metal guitar. Then again, my pres suck, so when I get some better ones I'll have a better idea.

Thanks for the replies...that does make me feel better. Can't wait to try them out later this week when things settle down a bit.

I've used them through RNP, Great River NV and SOundcraft M-series preamps. They dont do that great through the M-series it seems. One cool thing is that you dont need a stand if you are just using them for scratch tracks or for a quick take, you just hang them by the cord right off the front of the amp.
