Selling 414 - suggestions for price?

I'm selling my 414MKII. Brought it 2 years ago for about US$450 (steep because I'm down in New Zealand). Have had an offer of US$250 which is obviously much less than the purchase price but could be the only offer I get (these not being in much demand). So the question is, is it worth letting it go at the price?
 
I don't know about New Zealand but I can tell you that you can by one new here in the U.S. for that now so and two years old I would say something is better than nothing .
 
I sold a Roland 8 track digital unit and bought a 414 and use it to record 4 tracks and record as a wav file in my 'Puter, then return to 2 tracks stereo to the 414, and add 2 more tracks to the 'Puter, and keep doing this till I'm done.
I suggest you keep the 414 and get the free software from " www.softseek.com " called CD wav editor".
My stuff turns out great.It's easier than a digital recorder as you dont have to cusor through screens you can't read, and you have easier routing, and real knobs to turn and buttons to push.....ect......
I love going from the 414 to the 'puter and back and forth........
 
SCREWED?........I'll never get rid of my 414. It's so easy to use and sounds great.........

I agree with dicknose. The 414 may have been all the rage 15 years ago and is probably about #200 in a list of hundreds of recording studio multitrackers, but it is still pretty good today and it still sells today for about $250 US. For that price, you are being offered what the buyer would pay anywhere in the US. So, it's safe to sell it at that price.

As for what Dicknose said, it works very well with computer software and the going back and forth sounds fine. I record some tracks on the 414 and then burn it on my tascam CDRW5000 and then input everything into the PC as wav files. Sometimes, I use the 414 as a mixer and not record anything to tape. It make a good mixing unit when you are burning a CD. Then, I add my effects device and it works fine.
