Hello Zenkitty, Dont know about the school.
As for the other questions?
Average salary? No such thing in the Music biz. Don
Was makes lots of money. Most people dont. Think
low.
Should recording be a career or a hobby? It depends
on your situation. Do you want stability, normal
hours, health, life insurance, 401Ks, paid vacations,
sick days, etc? If so, dont get involved in the
music biz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a pro violinist, not an engineer, so I am not
an expert on that field. However, I am an expert
I guess on being a musician. I am 36, been pro
since I was 14, never did anything except violin
(in college I worked 3 days at a chinese restuarant).
My hours are insane, I travel a lot, have no
weekends, my violin cost as much as a small
house, with my education and experience, I would
make 10 times as much in another field. I dont
even know what a 401K IS, I have no pension, etc.
Time to switch jobs? Of course not, its a great
job. I didnt choose it, it chose me. I play the
violin for a living; if I won the lotto tomorrow,
I would still play the violin for a living. I will
do this til I die, I have no choice, its what
I am.
If you feel like this, go for it. If you feel
like this 99%, run like holy hell and be an
accountant.
A common joke in the biz:
Q. What's the difference between a Musician and
a sixteen inch pizza?
A. The pizza can feed a family of four.
Cheers, David
