FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUdge cikles! I swear I'd give something big and important up in exchange for the ability to sing. Not to whine but, the fact that I can't is a hard pill for me to swallow. I will not be remedied by Auto Tune. I will get better, continue to suck or I will stop trying to sing.
I'm not a vocal coach, but I believe everybody can learn to sing. Your voice is not bad. You have problems with pitch, and I don't think you are breathing and placing the air properly. Its nothing you can't learn. A few lessons and some practice, you will be singing so much better that you'll amaze yourself. If it really bothers you, see somebody that knows the mechanics. All you'll have to give up is a few bucks for some help.
I started playing music in 64 and attempted singing for 15 years before somebody showed me the right way to breathe, etc. I learned to sing from the diaphragm and not from the throat. It made a huge difference. My range is not much better, but my pitch and tone improved greatly. You shoulda heard my early efforts. You sing better now than I did.
Some people have trouble only when singing with headphones on.
The remedy for that is to take a can off one ear, so you can hear the track and your actual voice at the same time. Works for some.
Last, I didn't mean to upset you with the auto tune thing, but I'd be doing you no favors if I I lied and said the vocal was perfect. I have nothing to gain by being honest except one thing--to try and help another human being strive for perfection. Its not pleasant to criticize for me. I hate it. Maybe something good can come of this, though.
People say to me at gigs sometimes--"If I only had some talent, I'd love to do what you do." Translated, that means "I'm too lazy to actually put the energy towards learning something, cause I'm making a pile of money in my day job."
In other words, they cop out. So don't allow yourself to do that. There are vocal teachers out there who can train you in the basics, which you can use to sing whatever you want. Its time for the next step, thats all. Thanks for letting me speak.
