That's why I am the Rokket!!!! :D

Grab the guy in the band you have the best relationship to and tell him the truth. Sit him down with the material and talk to him about it. Let him know that you are just giving him the information and there is no ulterior motive behind it, only that you are concerned for the project since you participated in it. Be professional and honest, they'll thank you for it.

yeah, I agree. i doubt the guys in the band would even recognize until it was pointed out to them. Just give them some examples (i.e. Cher, Maroon 5), and let them decide for themselves.

How many lead singers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Just one. He holds the light bulb and the world revolves around him.

I would just let it be. Do your job and give them what they want. I've seen it before and been on the end that the singer is on. Your dealing with someone living in a fantasy world. They believe their songwriting skills and their creative genious will overshadow any flaws in the recording and their lead singer's lack of talent.

..................They will learn.................eventually.

If anyone is interested, I got the first tune mixed for these guys. I'll post it in the clinic. I just really hated to see them settle for the autotune shit. But I guess it came out ok. The drummer stopped by last night and I soloed the vocal tracks for him. At least he knows now.

I think the "you're not the producer or manager" point might not fit the bill here. This producer stuff is bullshit it the world of indie. It's arguable that if you're the only guy running the recording show, you can assert yourself into any role that band is aching for--and the best reason to do this is because your name become associated with the product.

If I were HangDawg, I wouldn't want shitty work coming out my studio, especially after the time and effort I took to build it and the creative control I hold over the projects allowed. I certainly wouldn't want the name of my studio on the CD. You might tell the band this: you can do what you want, but I can't stand behind the artistic value of the finished product. The production value is stellar, so you owe me money, but I'd prefer you not name my studio in conjunction with this mess. I don't know...just a thought.

Some of Cher's stuff was done that way on purpose.... but...

I tried out Auto Tune on some of my stuff once, just to see what it could do. It can be quite odd! Some of it sounded like a pitch bend on a MIDI controller.

Perhaps I could have set it up better, but it was quite freaky!

I really dont; get it. Drums being put in time, voices being put in tune.

No wonder dj's are getting more popular by the minute, they at least admit they have no talent HAHAAHAHHA

:p

edit; there goes my rep power LOL

So what you're saying is,...

the singer is Lisa Marie Presely???
