Rode NT1A clip

Really good, you blend right in with the prerecorded tracks. I have 10 year old Rode NT1 that is dying on me, keeps fading out when I'm recording.

nice...........

hey those lollar pu's sound great, are they best suited for jazz?

i play indie rock stuff and i have a cheapo casino reissue and the pickups are a bit weak, have been thinking about swapping them out any suggestions

Thanks! I like the mic but I like the MXL 960 I bought better. Unbelievable how good it sounds for the $$. I put a Mullard 12AT7 in it and it sounds really nice for sax.

They sound great for rock and blues too. Lollar will put their P90s in your metal Casino specific covers.

I rolled back the tone and volume until I hit the sweet spot for a jazz tone. I have the guitar set up with heavy strings as basically as jazz box that won't feedback at the volume I play at with my organ trio, but with lighter strings it would be great for rock with plenty of jangle from the bridge pickup or middle position.

not trying to hijack your thread here, promise...

i actually use 11s now as I play a full step down on all strings, my stuff is more indie pop than indie rock actually, no lead stuff really, mostly strumming/weird chord shapes lots of open strings , pretty mellow stuff

sound like it would fit at all with lollars?

I think so. P90s are very versatile and the Lollars have a lot of depth and complexity. Really made my Korean Casino come to life.

Man y'all are a tough crowd. Jeez.

Nah, not that tough. Just asleep at the wheel. Sometimes it takes a good bump to catch some notice.

The sax sounds great. The playing and the recording. I think the Rode sounds great, but as much as you seem to like the 960--I'm curious. How would you describe the difference?

Or is there a clip that might show the difference. (And don't let my curiousity create work for you, seriously.)

Nice tracks. Thanks for sharing 'em.

Thanks for the kind words. I just find the 960 to be fatter, warmer, breathier. Here's a clip with the 960 and tenor.

Here's my soundclick page if you feel like rooting around. There's a variety of styles and some live clips of my organ trio albeit of funky recording quality.

Oh yeah, I'll root around. I love your stuff--the playing and the production are top notch. I'm glad you saw fit to join the fray here! :D
