J to the R O C
Hey all, I'll probably be asking a few questions about this as the days go by. I can actually afford new tubes for my TSL 601 which I bought second hand about 6-8 months ago. I'm not exactly sure how old the amp was when I bought it, but I know I should probably have changed the tubes as soon as I bought it.
I haven't really done this before, and even though I've read about re-tubing and re-biasing I'm not fully confident that I can do it by myself. For starters, I've to get a new set of tubes. I'm happy enough to go with JJ Electronic unless anyone has anything bad to say about them? Something like this (with KT77s):

I've also watched the video on re-biasing a TSL, here

I guess I'll need a multimeter and Bias probes too. They sell them in the online shop.
What I'm asking here is that, out of those of you here that know me, do you think it's wise to attempt this myself? There's a guy I could ring who does work on Marshalls here, but if I could do it myself it'd come in at under €100 including the tubes, which would be a big saving. As it happens, I'm not at all happy with the sound of my amp, but the prospect of 'Phase Inveters in V4' scares me.
