Yeah i finally recorded the worst drummer with the worst kit ever about three moths ago.
This guys sound makes that tom sound GOOD!
So i go out and buy soundreplacer and boom, im back in buisness.
Just took the crappy drums out and it all came together.
Its also a cool tool if used in moderation too.
Nowadays ill get the drummer, before we start tracking, to hit each piece of his kit, and ill stick that in a different session.
Then as i need ill go to each drum, usually the snare, and effect the shit out of it! Compression, eq, verb...the whole shebang!
Then ill duplicate the snare track and replace the dup.
That way i can tuck the effected snare underneath.
And ill still do my normal processing on the original snare tracks too.
But when you bring up that new sample you really start noticing some "in your face power"
That dosent sound sampled! Because its the same drum as in the overheads.
Sorry about the long post...i obcess about good drum sounds
