red Gibson explorer -86??

Someone I know said he could be selling his guitar..

It's a red Gibson Explorer year -86..
He said he'll have it maintenanced, pots, frets etc..
and selling afterwards for a grand (1000 euros)

price seems high for that used instrument, but he said the red ones aren't that common, should I buy it or is it too pricey??

i dont know the conversion .... euros to dollars........ but i would probably buy it ..... does it have the case ?? is it beat up ?? is it original ?? these things are all reflective in the price

1000 euros (idiotic currency, my keyboard doesn't even have the symbol for it and i live in europe) would be $1300.
hard to say. i don't know about prices in finland, i assume everything is more expensive there than it is in belgium, but 1000? i've traded guitars for a while (second hand guitars are 20-50% cheaper in germany than in belgium ) and i suppose i wouldn't pay more than 7-800 for it???

then again, if it's a pristine 'classic' gibson ... why not???

yes, I think the price is salty even on finnish standards, but at the moment it's in totally original shape, not beat up, the owner has had it from day one, and loves it. ...thus, I figure, the price..

He mentioned to renew the pickups, though, 20 years of use after all.. but if people think electrics sound better after some playing like acoustics, I'd figure that thing is broken in good.

ofcourse I'll test it for a day or two before buying..

if he has replaced the pickups ...try to get the originals from him when you buy it.....

The early and mid 80s were a good era from Gibson, they were very busy trying to make a nice guitar after those mid 70s Norlin fiascos. I've got an 82 Les Paul Special and she's a peach.
