Lol. Yeah that should do it. The 6505 is a metal wankers dream amp. :D

Actually my dream amp is a JCM800 with a TightMetal pedal to take it to the next level. Seeing how I'm not some kind of big rock star making the kind of money to afford such things I might as well just save up for the 6505 and be done with it. LOL

Sell some stuff, save your pennies, and get the Kerry King JCM 800.

That's a discontinued item. I've looked at a lot of video on that head as well. Looks and sounds tight, but haven't even seen one on ebay. Last time I checked anyway :P

Just one idea ..... will it sound good for your tatses?
Don't know ..... don't care ....... I just want the 600!

Dude, register at the marshall forum and put that amp in the classifieds. I bet you sell it in a matter of days for more than 600.

This:..
Guitar Amp Recording

is one of the best articles ever produced IMHO.

Dave.

I'll shall check it out, but I think part of my problem is not getting the sound I want with the gear I have. I already put the head on ebay LOL. Hopefully I can sell it soon and then save up for something more extreme metal style :D

That's the key right there. That's not part of your problem, it's the whole problem.

Yeah. I think I know what kinds of stuff I need to be satisfied with the music I want to make. It sucks though because I've wasted years and money experimenting. Now it's almost like I'm starting over and have to sell shit off and never get back as much as I paid for it... Anyway thanks to everyone for their input! :thumbs up:

Just at thought - why not experiment with amp simulation. Then you can find the setup you want and afterwards you go buy the hardware version of the gear. The sound will of course not be exactly the same between sw and hw but imo it will be close enough.

Btw the sound isn't death metal to me - too fuzzy. It needs distortion sound and as allready stated, more mids, less lows

Ok Phil. Just for the record, could you define what the qualities are in an amp/speaker system that define a "metal" sound?

High gain I know to be one but cutting highs? Both these can be got from a good pedal. If a bruising LF component is needed. Solid state 100watter and a 15inch sub?

No amp sims do metal very good. Don't waste my time with amp sim debate :D

I don't have a pedal right now and I don't really want to waste anymore time or money I would rather just get the shit I need to do it right the first time :D

Dude for the br00tal metal you want with no pedals, you need some mega gain monster amp and a cab that can handle the thunder. Something like a Mesa Dual Rec or VHT Pitbull or JVM410 or ENGL Fireball or whatever those drop tune guys like to use. Problem is....that shit is really expensive.

Do you even have an amp in mind?

Expensive indeed. Which is why I mentioned a pedal. For $100 or so you could get the gain you need and in a far more controllable manner than all built into an amp. If, as seems likely, heavy low end is also needed then there is little alternative to spending the dosh. Bass needs HD power supplies and big op traffs....Or, transistors!

Dave.

I'm not saying that I'm against pedals or anything. I'm just saying I would just rather save some money and get something more suited for metal. The amps I have in mind are the 6505+ or Laney Ironheart only because those are 2 amps that were specifically made with metal in mind. Not to mention the price is easier on the wallet. Plenty of videos that compare amps and what not. I plan on several sessions of trying out amps while I save up and see what I can come up with :D

Aren't those amps more....like.....hair metal though? I don't know, just asking. Isn't the 6505 just a renamed 5150? I know they'll do Warrant's Cherry Pie all day long, but will they do that dark heavy floppy tuned black death metal shit you like?
