Hey all — first post here. I record everything at home and I'm looking for honest ears on a mix, especially from people who've fought the same low-end war.
The project is INDOMINION — it's just me. I write, play every instrument, record and mix it all myself. This track is "Monolith" (2:15): groove/progressive metal, for fans of Gojira / Lamb of God / Meshuggah.
Track:
Guitar is a 2019 Jackson Warrior with a Seymour Duncan SH-5 Custom in the bridge.
Three things I'd genuinely like your take on:
1. The rhythm guitars are tuned low and double-tracked. On my monitors the bass still reads, but on small speakers I suspect the low end turns to mush — does the bass guitar have its own space, or is it getting swallowed?
2. There's a ~22-second solo climax near the end. Does the lead sit on top of the rhythms without getting harsh, or does it poke out too far?
3. Overall balance — anything jumping out as too loud / too buried?
Blunt is fine, I'd rather hear it here than guess. Happy to return the favor — drop your track in the thread and I'll give it a proper listen and detailed notes.
