recording at my house

hi, my name is ju. i have a registered version of n-track at my house on my old 200 mhz pentium 2. i also have an old peavey 600x mixer that i plug into the line out of this beast. i have a band and lately we've been trying just to play around with recording some stuff here. when i record however, i get a powerful buzz, and i can't seem to get rid of it. what can i do to fix this? also, my n-track only uses directx plugins, where can i get those? i've stumbled on a lot of vst's, but they don't work.

hey, one more quick question. i don't know if this is for this forum or not. but i have 1 marshall v67 condenser, 2 sm57s, and an sm58. how can i mic my drums effectively?

first of all, check your input meter to make sure you arent clipping (going over 0 db).....also, i hope you mean you plug into the line in.....

1 sm57 on the kick
1 sm57 on the snare
1 sm58 with the ball off on the toms
1 Marshall v67 as an overhead

make sure you experiment with placement of the v67 as you will want to get a pretty even balance of the whole kit with it.....

on that system you wont get a whole lot of plugins working real time....
