Hi all....This is my first post here....I have 2 songs up and would like an opinion...(BE CRUEL IF YOU HAFTA)............they sort of seem to have lost something when I converted to MP3........any ideas on this?.................download seems to sound best...anyway,give them a listen please............. artist name is Wildfire..................... http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/10/1393/singles.shtml

Johnny Fever (I loved that show), I listened to both of your tunes. On the first one the hi hats are brutal but at the same time the rest of the drums are weak and need to come up.The guitar sounds like it was recorded direct and is too thin. It gets lost in the mix. I'm not a big fan of that sound. The strings on the other hand aren't bad at all. Where are you going with this? The tune keeps repeating the two chords and that gets old quik. A vocal could change a lot of that if you have one in the works. It's a good start. Add a vocal, re-record the guitar parts with either a fatter setting or even better, thru an amp with a mic in front of it and a general remix. I'm not slamming you here, this is just my humble opinion.
Oh, and the second tune, thelevel was too low to get a good listen so I'll withold any comments on that one.

Thanks Rat..............in the original mix ,everything sounds ok(WAV)for some reason when it was converted to MP3,everything got lost in the mix,and the volume dropped........maybe I need a different converter..........the guitar WAS beefier in the WAV......don't really know what happened.............guess it's back to the drawing board......................the drums were well balenced also..............I'm at a loss on this lol Thanks again

I'm going to replace the mp3's I uploaded with hopefully "NEW AND IMPROVED"ones............I had to record them to tape, then re-record them to the puter thru a EQ............the resulting MP3s,sound better so far(unless they get boogered somehow when uploaded...................fingers are crossed...................check later please...... Thanks

I'm about ready to give up on uploading these things..................uploaded again ,and still sucky.......lol...guess when you play the lo-fi,it just mixes funny............had a friend listen to the hi-fi,said it sounded fine...............guess all of us can't listen to it that way...................should I mix a mono version and upload it?????

I'm gonna check it out for myself right now, but a technique I use when I want to avoid a massacre of something I'm asking people to critique as to the recording, I'll use a short(er) clip at a higher resolution.

Thanks ......................do you mean like a higher bps rate??.......I'm using a free download MP3 converter, maybe you get what you pay for............lol.........................

OK- I'm looping the Vampire tune right now.

Nice concept to showcase those Goth guitar leads, but it's seriously lacking in low-end definition. There should be a thumping sharp counterpoint to those lead lines going on with both the bass and the kick drum.

Also the strings didn't cut it for me. I would've liked a much more intimate chamber quartet sound to contrast the lead lines that come later. Cello is what this thing needs.

Yeah- a higher bps rate. 320 Kbps is mighty clean, and doesn't create really large files if you're conscious of the length.

128 Kbps = 15.652 KB/sec

320 Kbps = 39.131 KB/sec

So a 20 second clip at 320 Kbps would require 20 * 39.131 KB,
~= 783 KB.

Plenty of free converters out there. Search this site for some that got rave reviews. I paid for mine (Vegas Pro) and was very happy with it so I've had little motivation to research the freebies.

Thanks for the help Drstawl..............I'll get to work on that...... lack of good equipment is some of my prob..........this was recorded with an older Cakewalk, using a $199.00 radio shack keyboard.......................no out board equip of any kind..............guess ya could tell huh?? lol.........best piece of gear I have is my Hamer guitar.............guess better stuff would pay off...........................Back to the ol mixing board.............Thanks

The Hi-Fi on the reload sounds ok...................Lo-Fi still bites..............go for Hi-Fi if ya can........................Thanks
