Rack system...what model???

Ok...
I see them all the time. Im talking bout the rack dealio that a Tascam 38-8 sits in. Im not sure what model number they are. If there is more than 1 style or what. But Ive also seen them with a TSR-8. So Im looking into buying 1 of these racks. I dont have a problem buying a TSR-8 with a rack just for the rack...then turning around and selling the TSR-8 and trying to get the rack for free in the process..So will a rack from a TSR-8 fit with a Tascam 38-8? Or will a rack from anyother cheaper models fit on a 38-8 for that matter?

I'm not quite sure what you mean - the rack ears or the actual trolley itself?
The rack 'ears' (which attach the deck to the rack) are a different design between the '30 series and the TSR-8. You would have to drill new holes in the ears to get the TSR ones to fit a 30-series. And frankly that would be a waste - I've seen far more 30-type rack kits than ones for the TSR-8.
 
Are you talking about this one, the CS408?

If so, that trolley will fit almost all of the decks that have rack ears which are separate items...for 30 series decks, the ears are called RM-300 and are a rare item to find.

Yep Ghost thats what Im looking for. I just wanted to know so I could snag one up if I see it. Now I know most of these will fit but I would have to get different ears...Thanks
 
At a pinch it's possible to make the rack ears. For the first unit, I bought some for a Soundcraft Spirit and drilled new holes in them. For the second one, I just got some rack strips and did the same. I'm not so pleased with the result aesthetically, but it does work.
