Rack Monting Stuff

I'M THINKING OF BUILING MY OWN RACKS BECAUSE THE GOOD ONES ARE SO DAMN HIGH$$$$. HERE'S WHAT I GOT TO RACK MOUNT.... 2 CHANNEL COMPRESSER,CD BURNER AND A TAPE DECK.
HERE'S THE PROM. ONLY THE COMPRESSER HAS THE STUFF TO RACK IT WITH BUT THE CD BURNER AND TAPE DECK DONT. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN PICK UP SOME STUFF LIKE THAT?
 
just search around.. there's bound to be something like what you need. ask at a store.. they'll know.
 
There are also generic rack shelves and trays that you an usually screw the gear onto if they have some holes on the bottom for rubber feet or something.

I have the Digi 001 I/O box too but am confused on how you are able to rack it?
 
it comes with a couple of rack ears (I think they are called that way) and some screws. Check in your box and you'll see them. You screw them to the unit and it becomes the width of a conventional rack.

The most basic solution is to use a rack shelf and just set the equipment on it. If you want it to be a bit more secure, you can see if it's possible to screw it down to the shelf. The "universal" shelves have a bunch of holes in them. Some units have a threaded hole that's there specifically for the purpose (the RNC, for example). You may be able to work something out with other units: see if there are any screws in the base, holding on the case or whatever; if you can line a screw up with a hole in the shelf, remove it, then replace, with the shelf in between.

A more elaborate solution is a shelf with a bar to hold the box in place (Middle Atlantic calls their product that does this the "Captivator," I think).

More elaborate is to get something put together or made to fit your unit specially from Middle Atlantic or someone else. If you're lucky, you might find a rack kit or rack ears specially built for your unit in someone's inventory. I actually did find one for my CDR deck just by chance (with ears tapped to fit screws on the unit's case, front panels that made it fit into 4U perfectly with no gaps, and a perfectly fitting half-shelf underneath).
