Wow.. what a great song!

I started mixing at about 6am, and finished at 7am. This song is great! I'll probably revisit this tommorow, since I've been mixing for over 10 hours straight, so I don't know how objective I am. Here's my first crack at it.. criticism welcome!

It may need an EQ correction since I'm mixing on a home stereo. No automation, and in fact, no fader changes throughout the song. Just a straight mix.

All fixed now. :)

uh oh.

Geet, did you have a problem on the conversion only? Doesn't seem up to your usual dude. At least on my monitor chain the bass gtr is rather mid- rangy. It was a edit heavy track IMO.

T

i think thats your monitor chain, dude. lol. geets mix sounds pretty solid to me. on my sony mdr's its pretty balanced, and the bass sits like it should.

Edit heavy? I actually didn't use any automation or anything in this track. Ha.

I didn't spend very much time on this one. I guess it shows. Maybe i'll take another look at it tomorrow.

It sounds fine to me at low volume through my monitors, the bass seems to vanish. But my headphones are telling me something else. Heh.

If I remember correctly, everything was sounding pretty good loud.

So.. I dunno. I'll look at it again.

this is not final...just lookin for comments....

Hey man,

Everything sounds really muffled. The vocals and the snare particulary. I really think you should drop the reverb on the scatting too. Just my opinion.

Whoa.

Everything sounds really compressed, I'd try to lay off that a bit. The reverb on snare is wayyy too much in my opinion.

Sounds a little muffled, not too bad though. If you cut back on the compression over the entire mix, you should be doing alot better.

solo the bass track, howlin', whoppin, during the slap stuff and di goin in/out phasey on the outro. I had to automate the thumb bops some 6dbs at some spots. Didn't want to kill it too much with the comp.

just something I encountered. But hey you've been 2nd on the last to PMC's, just seemed not up to your usual-ya know.

I find this so interesting. I didn't have to do anything special to the bass and never found it to be a problem. Awesome playing, none the less. :)

Those second places were HUGE surprises. Heh.

To be quite honest, I don't feel like changing anything. Ha. I'll just leave it as it is.

I've been really tired the passed few days. Eh.

Cary, yeah the performance was great. Starting to think maybe I should redown the bass file , but is it too late oh well.

Geet, its cool. who am I , you can do what you like ;)

I kinda have the same problem. I'd like to be a part of the contest but I haven't got FTP and my mail carrier can't carry a 44 mb .wav file.
How do I go about this... ?
Any help?

You have to convert it to MP3 first.

If you want, email it to me ( blowfish@attbi.com ) and I will FTP it for you (or anyone else).
