Hey Bruce. I dont cut hot when at 24bit.

Did you just solo each track and export it as it was in your mix? ie; if something was mixed quiet, it exported with a really low level?

I've exported all my tracks for people at times, and I solo the track, then bring up the channel/master faders so each track is a good level at the master. Recording at 24 bit with a very low level is about the same as 16 bit with a higher level.. ;) Many of the tracks use less than 20% of the dynamic range available. Should be useable though..

I had to pull the files up in Sound Forge and resave them without the Meta Tags. It let me pull them up in Nuendo after that.

I spent a little bit of time last night messin with it. The quality of the tracks are pretty good. This should be alot of fun.

I have just added one big zip file that contains all of the 16bit/48kHz wav files. I would recommend just downloading one of the smaller individual files first, to make sure those files will work for you. Rather than downloading the entire large zip, only to find that the files don't work.

The large ZIP should be the first one listed on my server:

I grabbed them from NL5 early UK time thismorning. They work fine in Cubase SX.

Threw the faders up and done some panning and EQ cuts. I've got a hum/noise problem on my AUX sends (all 6...shit!) so I'll be relying solelly on software plugs on this one.

Great song!

These are the original tracks from the original tracking sessions. Nothing was done to them to alter them. Some were very low as we were rushing to drop them during the initial foundation tracking session. (The Programmer is a flakey guy so we had to make sure we had all our midi and audio data before we left) not like we could go back and redo anything :) Some stuff was recut. The Drums were MPC samples and we could not recut them as homeboy faded to grey on us. Not a bad guy just not very organized. He is the MD for The Gap band Now.

There is hum and noise on these tracks. On the drum tracks we strung the snake in front of the speakers and picked up the oscillations. LOL Boy things have changed.

We do all of our tracking exclusively at our spot. We make them bring their MPC's and esoteric keyboards/modules over here when sequencing or dumping. Solves the technical problems. :)

this is serious hum from my Aux's Bryan, when I mute them it dissapears. I am noticing some crackling though, I thought Cubase was playing up or I had my buffers set wrong.

Anyone else using SX while I'm here?

I have it set to 4 buffers/256k and on ma delta control pannels I have the latency set to 512k

PIV 3.0/Gig of DDR400/dedicated recording drive...yada yada

Using SX here, and no problems (once I was able to import them!!!)

Here is a VERY rough cut -

files all downloaded without a hitch!..importing it into nuendo2 now..cant wait...im a metal guy myself so its a rare treat for me to get my hands on tracks like this...thanks again giles!

and NL5 sounds like your sh*ts at doubletime speed!...or is it just me?

Giles - how long should the song be almost 4 1/2 or almost 5 mins?

Yep almost 5 minutes just under so between 4:30 and 5:00 it's been a while. i know edited version is 4:38 (the one I took in for mastering without the blank space up front and roll offs in the back)

DL Link still busted for me.

Thats wierd the link seems to be working. Markaholic was right it was way fast - I forgot to change the project settings when I converted the files.

Here it is at the right speed - even more rough, since it slid the sound down quite a few hertz and threw my bass levels way off.

On the good side, the piano sounds way better......it sounded kinda cheesey at the fast speed.

O' what a dumbass I am.

The files seem to work on the studio comp just fine.....

Here's a question -- on the original D/L from Giles - there were L/R files for most tracks, and in the D/L from NL5's site which I got this morning, they're all mono and single tracks... was something missed in the transfer or were they all originally mono tracks saved as L and R?

Bear, you'll have to wait for Giles to be sure, but all I did was open the files in SF and then resave tham as regular waves at 16/44.1. I left them as they were other than that (same name, and they all opened as mono tracks)

Hey, will you try and download my rough mix above, giles said it ain't working.

Thanks.

I am away from the files right now, but I do know that at least one or more of the BGV tracks were stereo. It was not a "dual mono" track. Vocals were double tracked and hard panned. So if NL5's tracks are all mono, there is a problem.

I also downloaded the rought mix at:

Works fine over on my end.

Yes - that's what I mean... for example, there was a Rhodes_L.wav and a Rhodes_R.wav - both mono, but intended to represent each half of a stereo track......
