On your mix, you had a couple of spikes that probably hit -3db, but the vast majority of your mix is well under that. I haven't listened yet, but just LOOKING at it, I can tell that you could run the L2 (or some hard limiter) over it with an output of about 12db before you'd start squishing it too much.

So I am gonna to say screw this whole final mix thing..i got a month right?
hehe...I guess whatever mutation is in form when the deadline comes will have to do.

Fin, Nice job. Not dark at all, might be your room deceiving you. i think it is very well balanced EQ wise. :)
 
Here's my attempt

I'm gonna go with this as the final mix, Giles. Not really my scene this style and I didn't really have a clue what I was doing or what I should be referencing it with even. This could be a contender for the wooden spoon :D

Hey No Prob Lemon. We have been fiddling arond here for a song entry. Of course verything I do ends up with about 20+ tracks so I am figgering out the quick way for yall to dload it :)

Hopefully I will have a final entry sometime this week..

Hey, I'd be willing to host them as one big zip, and I'd even be willing to mail out a few cd's of the tracks for people with dial-up.

It would be cool to mix some R&B, or better yet, some FUNK!
 
LOL. Cool. a CD is a better Idea. LOL I can host big files just being concious of 56k guy. :)

Cuz my smallest track is about 34 files and that is with all the vox bounced down to 2 tracks (of course keeping the parts separate, etc..)

Might put up this Jazz track we released last year. :) Might be a fun one to see how people hear the parts. :)

Alright, got a friend to let me post it on his FTP. This is my final mix.

I tried putting a few enhancers on it like BBE and i just felt it made the sound too tinny so i decided i would use oldschool EQ and stuff instead. Anyway, if i get ripped apart for anything on this mix is that its pretty compressed. Its not really noticable but it is. I thought it was the only way to really balance everything out. The snare was the hardest thing i guess out of anything to get to cut through because everytime i put enough highs in it, it came out too thin. I think i balanced it out good enough for the highs to cut through and still be thick and powerfull.

Not sure of the number of tracks but I will have it prepped. :)
 
Sweet Contest #5 will start when this one is judged and complete. :) 39 tracks. 1.27GB of Data uncompressed. :) Geez Now I am excited. LOL
