The drums were a major pain. I admit I lost interest after struggling with that one tom bleeding into everything. I have until Wednesday, right?

And, Thanks! :)

well you know thats not true when you hear my enrty. lol.
(which by the way, isnt an entry for the contest, just for fun)
The tracks that the public got are the scratch takes used when we were producing the tune.

Its called Starlit sky Finsters mix

Thats a 15 min mix of the real tracks.

Trust me, if there was something i couldnt get mixed, id just send it to Larry Crane.lol

hahahah...i was just joshin' with ya. i dig your mixes. it's hard to listen to that one that Finsters mix one though after hearing the competition version over and over and over again on my computer. they sound almost like 2 separate songs. it's crazy. anyway, nice job. peace man.

damn, its cool hearing these different renditions everyone did. i wish i had the ability to retrack some the tracks right now. nice job everyone

caryindy, great mix :) I love it, very nice guitar retrack. Diffirent from the original, but still fits in the mix great, and keeps somewhat the same feel.

Man I'm gonna get some serious competition here *eek*

Oncor, not bad, but I too am really not feeling the huge chorus on the guitars. I tried chorus myself to make it more stereo, but was pretty disgusted. Also, the delay near the end really distracted me because of the strange timing (sorry mate, but it did ;)) For the rest, nice mix :)

nice Cary...

I like the tone of the guitars but would maybe pull them back in the mix a bit. Great dimention.

Yep riccardo you can enter.

Sorry everyone, it is African World Festival time here in Detroit, and i was elected to be the FOH engineer for the 3 day Festival. Very Long and tiring Days.. Try 10am to 1am. I am a LAZY studio Mix Engineer. LOL

Floetry was interesting. We have had some Hot Bands. :)

Today is the last day as i crawl to reality at 9:24 am on a sunday to go to a gig instead of church. Think I'll hibernate at the local jacuzzi Hotel with the wife when this is over.

Cary and jerry, your entries are posted.

and now for something completely different

Ok I decided to give it a try. I'm completely new at this (never posted before) and mainly just play bass in a punk band. I started off by replacing the drums one by one but then decided to just replace the entire drum track with a dancey type mix. I'm sure some people might be mad that I put in so much stuff but I just wanted to have fun with it. The problems I encountered were the acoustic guitar had a rumble in it that I tried to EQ out. It was also out of time and since I replaced the drums I had to cut it up and fix it. I found the vocal track to be well recorded but quite out of tune especially in the chorus. I'm not very good with tuning vocals so I didn't bother. The vocal track was also out of time in a few places so I scooted it around. I wanted to make the chorus stand out so I used a different sound on the voice for the verse and chorus. I decided to add a U2 kind of haunting type guitar over the top. I added a bass guitar that I had trouble getting to be at the right volume. My system doesn't represent low bass sounds very well. ok enough disclaimers.. let me have it.. what do you think?

MixMIster.

Im a little speechless////
I actually kinda hated the twist you put on it...but thats a preferance thing.
But you did such a good job witht the remix that i cant really say shit. :D
Ill agree with you that you did need to tune the vocals, but thats pretty minor.
Itll be interesting to see what the judge thinks of this mix.

Nice work!

OK,

Here is my second attempt - I'm gonna try one more with "changes" in the actual audio.

Please feel free to critique them both. Neither one is what I want, but I can't get it to sound like I want!!!

I think the second one is an improvement, but I don't like some aspects of it.

Thanks,

NL5

Oh, and BTW - Thanks Finster, this is GREAT for us who are just starting out!

wow, hehe, when I entered my entry (I was the first to enter), then I heard people say they wish they could retrack stuff aswell, so I thought I'd be the only one to do it :p but now these 2 new mixes by cary and MixMister are so totally different that I was actually pretty stumped with what could be done :)

MixMister, horrific, but brilliant! :)
