Nice job Bear man.

The bass you got into that timpani man....damn, felt like i was at the movies, on a THX or something of the like! :D
Thanks, man.... yeah it does have that soundtrack kind of vibe.... I played it for my wife and a friend of hers and they loved the song!

Voxx seemed a little muddy though.
You've got to be kidding! Check your monitors - maybe the tweeter is shot!!! ;)

There is such a thing as too fat.

And IMO i feel you went there.

Much love :D :D :D

Hey Tekker, I just listened to your mix...
I liked it, thoughI could hear the direct acoustic a little too much...
I took that out of my mix because I didn't like it so much.
I do like how you handled the drums and bass
(Two things I really didn't touch at all)

I agree with Finster about the level of the vocals, very good, IMO.

Thanks, im excited to hear your interpretation of it Brief.

Enjoy. :)

Here you go man. Pretty cut and dry I think....no fancy tricks. I'm not nearly good enough to try anything fancy. I think(hope) it sounds good for a pretty straight-forward mix though.

Finster,
I totally agree on the vocal level. I tried to have the vocals loud enough so you could understand them, but not be WAY above the rest of the music so that it sticks out like a sore thumb. I probably should have raised the vocals when the bass and drums kick in, but I just left them the same through out the whole song.... Oh well. lol

Disposable,
I really liked the direct guitar sound. I heard your mix before I made mine and I read that you removed the direct guitar so I was expecting it to sound bad as I downloaded the files.... But once I heard them both I thought the guitar sounded way too thin and tinny without the direct. With the direct there was a nice full acoustic sound that I really liked, so I used both together.

Thanks a lot for checking it out guys, glad you liked it.

Where's the link

OK, now I'm really annoyed. The Download stopped at EXACTLY the same spot as last time I tried. Is there somewhere else I can get this file from? The download stops and FireFox says it's complete after 133,682,312 bytes. AAARGH!!

sorry bout that. here it is.....

Sounds good to me man, real nice.

Bright reverbs usually tend to make esses burst out of the vocal.

So one thing id say is try using a little deEssing before the reverb.

Thanks for participating Brief, i hope you enjoyed it. :)

Man...im not sure what to tell you dude.

Youre best bet would be to take firewire drive to a buddys house that has a cable connection and try to dl'd it from there on to the drive.

But honestly, that would seem to be a serious hassle.

Have you contacted you service provider with the issue?

Thanks for the advice, I'm always looking for it. And most of all thanks for making this incredible song.

I'll throw my hat into the ring as well.. but keep in mind that this is the first time I've ever mixed a song that I haven't tracked.. plus I'm not that experienced in the first place. Hopefully this'll sound alright, I sort of messed with it.

what kind of vocal chain was used?

U87Ai to an Avalon 737 to the digioo2.
Im still not quite getting that "avalon sound" yet though.

Im halfway to getting my apogee converters, THEN my vocal chain will be the shit.

But for now it cuts the mustard.

i gave it a try. didn't do a ton of stuff 'cause I like the song the way it is really. I wish the drums would have been separate files or at least wouldn't have that much reverb on it...but oh well:

thanks again fin. i'd love to hear some more of your originals if you have any??

Thats was pretty cool.

I liiked the fatness of the bass at the end.
I did however miss the grand string part at the end, it was way buried.
Which im sure you wanted, so thats cool.

And yes i have MANY other tunes, ill put another up for PMC11.

Also, i offered up the midi files to everyone on page two or three, so if you wish you can put your own drums in there Ben.

Thanks for mixing it bro, and take care.

I really like the way you changed the parts around, that was neat, and i liked the fuzzines on the bass, that was cool too.

However,,,,the whole song wasnt there.

Did you maybe render it too short?

At any rate nice job!
I enjoyed you experiment.

i know the whole song wasn't there.. i cut parts to make it shorter. I thought it worked better as a short song; I really liked the song but I felt that it was dragging. Snip snip snip! but at any rate, thanks for the feedback.. i'm really new to mixing so I appreciate it.

Edit... dammit, I need to fix that, i guess i did cut it off!
