Thats was pretty cool.

I liiked the fatness of the bass at the end.
I did however miss the grand string part at the end, it was way buried.
Which im sure you wanted, so thats cool.

And yes i have MANY other tunes, ill put another up for PMC11.

Also, i offered up the midi files to everyone on page two or three, so if you wish you can put your own drums in there Ben.

Thanks for mixing it bro, and take care.

thanks fin. yeah, the string part was on purpose. i made it heavy the first time you gave us these tracks awhile back, and this time i decided to make it so you didn't really notice them until right at the end when the rest of the tracks fade out (i'm sure you can see a metaphor or something having to do with the sea and the sailor...i don't know, lol).
yeah i missed the MIDI files, but just as well 'cause I don't have a lot of good soft/hardware synths. glad you liked the bass, 'cause when I listened to it at home I realized I didn't like it...haha
peace man

U87Ai to an Avalon 737 to the digioo2.
Im still not quite getting that "avalon sound" yet though.

Im halfway to getting my apogee converters, THEN my vocal chain will be the shit.

But for now it cuts the mustard.

Damn dude.....

Heya all fellow mixers here! :)
I just found this nice forum today and after a while I ran into this thread. I'v been looking for something like this for ages.. I really want to learn more mixing and stuff but I don't seem to get enough songs to mix, so this rox ;)

I immediately started to work and within few hours I came up with this:

Nothing added or removed, just pure mixing here.
I think that the "floating" part really could use some niice airy pad and then some adlib flutey sounds every once in a while would be nice too :) I might get into those bit later, wel'll see ;)

Forgive me the bit loud bass in the end, looks I have to remaster and lower it a bit hehe :p

Good job, Kainz. The drums are nice and punchy. I didn't find the bass objectionable at all.

Yeah, I listened it again today and the bass wasn't that loud afterall.. Guess I just don't like the overall tone of the bass, too muddy. Hmh, bit EQing and we should get some separation down there heh.
But oh well.. there is going to be soon next piece of art to mix or something right? I'm just wondering because I'm bit late for this one :p (yea, figured the forum yesterday ya see hehe). So I think I'll wait for the next one and leave this as it is :)

Since my first attempt has been met with a deafening silence, I decided to try again. This time it's a bit more adventurous. Smaller, too. Less than 3MB this time. :)

Song #4, "PMC 10 Mix 2"

Don

I listened to you 2nd mix.

You win the official award for largest Timpani....congrats Don.

I like the repeating vocals too, that was an interesting touch.
And BTW what the heck was the extra vocal at the end?
Also the bass was a little too loud IMO.

Nice mix overall, thanks for participating man.
:D

Much like great Italian food, the balance in this mix was fantastic Kainz.

Nice work, and thanks for giving it a shot.

It's "Oh my darling", in reverse. :) I guess it was subtle enough.

Thanks very much for listening, and for providing the excellent tracks!

Thanks man :)
No one has ever compared my mixes to Italian food hehe. I like italian food thou, so this rocks! (pasta yammy, pizzaa yammy, spaghetti yammyy) ;)

Nothing too fancy there, just some "by the book" mixing. Just 1-3h work, so nothing adventurous or exciting, just some boring normal mixing that lacks all the imagination :D

But nice if you liked it, just wait until I get the next one under my "sliders" njah njah
;)
