gotcha!!! i just hope it stays alive . . long enough to come to fruition!!!

Honestly, if everyone is involved here, I think it could set off, if it has a pro feel. Each of us lives in a good location for circulation. I'm in DFW area, and a lot of you guys from the east, and there's some that are west coasting. This could be promising, however, when your already in the music business or making music, working on a big project might also interfere with your own projects, just be careful lol.

Price together all the equipment needed. I'm not fluent in magazine making process lol. I know they have to use semi-heavy stock paper, we probably get glossy type, as for all that fancy stapling they do, got me there lol.

I know epson and HP has printers for sale that print larger than 8.5 x 11. I'm sure some of you guys seen it, for cheap too, well I know it's under a grand for sure.

I second a PDF version. I say do the PDF version either way, even if we decide to go paper route. This would allow back issues for consumers & clients to be able to read easily.

I believe that is a wonderful to get a bit of publicity...Hope it comes through for all the artists fam

pdf isnt the way to go I tried to do this about a month ago and checked diff programs. There is ebook programs for free wich is pdf like, Scribius is a open source program that works good. But I been using quark express its the best so far integrating text and pics.. Im doing more off a news letter then a magazine im just waiting on some higher quality pics to be developed.

Well I think who ever "steps up" to consolidate everyone's entry should have a lil more sayso as to which program we use. I know for me, as my skills are only so high - they are solely in the MSWord and PDF area . .. so if I take on that position - I would have to do it in one of these . . . or . . . call it a "newsletter" more than a "magazine" and do it in a newsletter program tha handles pics n text . . .

I also think it might be a little easier (regarding keeping everyone's work load light so that this project doesnt overwhelm our music endeavors) if each person handles their own "page" - even in MS Word, u can make your page look like it is supposed to . . .

Yea everyone can handle there own page and type everything out and what not and send the pages along with pictures to the person thats putting it all together or sumthin in that area

check out this ruff draft I did it in like a hour most of it was just learning the program and writing stuff.

I manage to get ten subscribers, 2 people are paying for ads (20 bucks a page), Most people just want reviews maybe 30 responded. All this is 3 or 4 days if I spent a few months on it I could get a thousand subscribers easy.
50 friends and 150 views on myspace in 3 days too.

I plan on releasing a final version for april and hopefully I can keep my promise to the people that want ads for 150 subscribers. I want to keep it short 12-15 pages so it ecourages people to print it themselves. I talked to a few newstands, and record stores who said they have no problem putting a free mag on there shelves.

Ohh im doing it in newsletter format its easier and since im sending them in email it makes sense. I just told people to email me here unsignedhypemag@hotmail.com for reviews and subscriptions. By the way noone wanted to help lazy people.

Anyways Ill throw whatever you guys got in it too mention your from hr.
If everyone would actualy copy these it could get big fast but from the people I talked to they just want something for nothing.

For your own benefit, do not release that to anyone... :o

There are multiple grammatical and spelling errors. The layout looks like it was done in MS Paint... It's just not even close to looking professional.

I understand you'll want to keep it small in size for electronic delivery. But it definitely needs a better graphical and style layout than it has now. Otherwise, people won't want to continue receiving it. 90% of consumers could care less about content, they're more concerned with looks and image. Those are the two most important things when making a customer-facing product.

Trust me, I'm a marketing manager at a billion-dollar software company. I know what I'm talking about.

I'll probably hop on it and get something together.

told ya that shit was ruff, just to see what it looks like. I never used The program its a beta version and it freezes up. Theres potenal my gramer isnt great im not a writer. Point is you can do your own article. Put the pics anywhere. The guy at the newstand said it looks good.

I printed it out and it looks streight you can get the backgrounds to blend but I dont want to waist a bunch of ink on backgrounds. Even the pics on there suck I need better quality thats why I did them black and white it hides the mistakes.

Wasnt talking bout people on here most off you are intrested and are willing to type up your own shit and promote it, I was on fourms, soundclick, etc. Trying to talk to people and they werent down they were just like interview me. I was telling them it would be pointless unless you distributed it too thats the easiest way to spread it.

yeah i think one solid piece is that we each type up our own piece - but i also think we need to put a limit on each piece - like no more than 200 words - so we can make sure each piece can get into the "page" appropriately . . .

Just assign questions to everybody and next month assign diff. questions until everyone has answered all the questions or create new questions

With the back ground images, behind each "section" it looks better - i would def. try to get a "higher" caliber camera for the photos . . . as well, i would try to do the articles in colums - and place a few images within the article . .. dont know if you know what i mean though . . .

ok here is my 1st draft - of 2 pages . . . one of an "interview" [the left page] and an AD [the right page] . . .

the kb is low, so quality may actually suck! hopefully the "idea" comes across . . .

the basic thing is to do a magazine around the physical size of JET magazine,

so each of us would "do" our own page with the same basic criteria:
1) page dimensions
2) number of words

Here's my thoughts ya'll...keep in mind this is by no means criticism of anyone, I honestly haven't even looked at the pdf files yet...just input and ideas off the dome before I do.

First off, I have a feeling Change is going to be a BIG help in this (if he decides to take part in it). With his professional background, it would help ten-fold.

Second, I can see where this is going but there needs to be more structure. For putting the images together, I would suggest a team of say 2 - 4 people solely responsible for putting the images together to make it look nice...Photoshop Gurus, I'm talking about you.

Next, maybe have some of the more entertaining people get their own column, like maybe a Q & A column right near the beginning like EGM.

Then maybe you have a "tips and tricks" section for home recording or maybe even a "DIY" section and a section talking about different pieces of equipment, what's good or bad about them.

Make it top quality and it'd be easier to get advertisement and push from companies after you can prove people want to see it.

So many ways that this could go...and now I'll go look at the pdfs

Fiev.

I agree entirely Fiev - the more heads join in the better - i was just startin from scratch - to get the ball rollin . . .

Yeah id be down, we have to get alot of advertising tho, who knows maybe we can make it big, im definately in, lets keep this thread updated, i got the nyc area down for distribution.
