promotions idea

i definitely think advertising is great . . . but i also think . . . "alot" of advertising will "junk" the magazine. i have seen several people in my area at least do this - and after the 2nd or 3rd issue, it looks like shit, cuz there is way more advertisin than anything else, . . n no body cares about the magazine anywhere . ..

lets try to do a "rollcall" of interested parties and "duties" or "tasks" that each person is doin . . .

if you want, you can pm me - adn i will collect everyone's pms and post a "Staff List" so to speak . . .

Even though we r looking for a "guru" to knock the final product out the park, i think we should all . . . "try" to do our own "basic" page so the guru will know what we are working with . .. or at least a "vote" on page dimensions and page design lay out

hope im not repeating the same shit over n over again!!!!
 
i don't have any skills with photoshop at all so i'm not gonna be part of that guru haha
 
I agree that a little advertising is great. Too much is overkill and kills interest in your work.

I'd help myself, but with starting school soon, everything's going to slow down quite a bit. I'll be damned if I get my Associates and not work just as hard if not harder for my Bachelors.

Below is a basic "table of contents" that I put together . . .
1. Round Table – Several guests exchanging ideas about various hip hop current events
3. Yen/Yang – Eye Candy For Everyone 5. Hit & Miss: Weak Pimp Game – Put on Front Street!
7. Back-Stage Indie Artist Squeezin Lemons
9. Words of Widsom 11. The Struggle: Politics – Chopped and Screwed 13. Life Support Check These Artists

Certainly not etched in stone . . . any one wanna weigh in ?
 
I believe it might take a while before this project fully gets off the ground lol. I know I have to go take some pictures anyways, so I'll send mine in later on in the month or something along with a couple of reviews or articles.
 
yo any one gotta jpg of their cd cover or somethin, pm me - i was gon drop a few of hr folk into the newsletter im doin . . .
 
Here's how it should work;

Someone come up with whatever questions we think should be asked. Then, everyone writes their own responses and send them in, as well as any promo shots/album covers you want to promote.

If everyone is making their own page, (no offense) most will look tacky and give the whole mag a "high school paper" feel, ya know? If one person (or maybe a couple) did it all, the mag will have a better all-around flow/theme to it.

I'll do all the design work, if this actually comes together.

Inde-Struggles: What is the biggest obstacle facing independent artists?

Front Street: Game that Women Oughta Know - What is one "trick" you use that if ya chick knew - she would probably bust you for dippin out on her ? (lol)

Blast or Trash: Which Major Label Artist has a CD that is truly worth blasting? and Which onesre worth trashing? (Sum up each artist with a 1 line zinger! - Eff a full fledged review - those are 4 the Indie artists (lol)

GrassRoots: One thing each person can do to improvetheir community (cuz Russel said HipHop has a Heart!!!!)

although i wouldnt be a part of this but i was reading this thread and it sounds like a great idea.... but like on the hit or miss part of the mag you should have a feature artist post one of his songs on this thread and everyone do a hit or miss vote on it and post with comments and post some of them on the mag. but you gotta keep it to a one song submit from that artist for at least two weeks so everyone can have a chance. that said artist will give his name, city/state, and maybe his studio name. no annonomous names.
 
i was thinking of something completely dif. for the hit or miss - but thats an easy fix - i would just do hit or miss for the song submission n "front street bluez" for the section on weak game exposed - that was for more so the benefit of chicks who might be intersted in reading . . . y they keep gittin played by pimpery (lol) . . .
