Preamp for Rode NTK?

OK, so you have better mics, Neve pre's, and you need something to match your NTK too. Hmmmmm, I have used my NTK with Ghost, RNP, P/AMR VMP-2, GR, and API pre's - sounded pretty good on all of them, but definetly not what I would call warm - very present, but not warm - It gets smoked by my gefells. It is a decent mic though - great mic considering the cost.

What exactly are you looking for that you are not getting now from your NTK? I changed the tube out, that made more difference than changing the preamp........

I just want to know what people are using, end of story. I should have left out the budget because it's not really apart of the question.

Oh, and BTW, I didn't assume the "NTK" was all you had - I assumed it was probably one of your better mics, or why would you put forth such an effort? Plug that baby into your Neve, and that should be about as good as it gets, unless you are looking for something specific. Also, plugging a $300 mic into a $1000 preamp seems kinda back asswards to me.........

Well, I got no problem dealing with attitude, but you should look at what you post, and then the responses you get. If you don't want responses to something, why post? You can't expect everyone to respond exactly how you want them to. Some people have no reason to kiss ass. They will respond to something as they see fit.
And dealing with me is easy.....I don't give a shit about much....I don't let things upset me. It aint worth it. You seem to upset easily. I got no answers for that. Me, I just drink a beer. All is good.

And the song, no vox yet. The drums were just done yesterday, and now, maybe a bass line. The vox, maybe later this week. It won't be anything to impress you, as it's done on cheap gear, at least on my end, and no talent from me. But man....it sure is fun, and way better than prison.

I don't have an NTK....But I use a DMP3. I also post my music for all to hear. And I answer questions asked of me. I got nothing to hide, and don't have to pretend to be anyone, or anything. I am real.

Why do people get sooo uptight about gear particularly mikes?(I hear Behringers are popular!!).

Surely you get used to the gear you can afford and then master it using it to its full potential whether it be a mike and amp or a mixer.

If someone comes with a contrary opinion, don't slag them off but surely quiz them on how they use it and what you can learn from them and also what you can share with them. That is the whole point of the board.

I have had great advice from people here and I value things that people say whether I agree with them or not....
