I have used https://audio.rightmark.org/index_new.shtml for years, (really just the RTA, one day I shall get around to digging into the other functions!)
It is a good idea to make a "silent recording" every month or so using standard settings of gains etc. Few of us have setups set in stone and so a mains cable can get moved, or a PSU introduced and you end up with a low level hum or hashh that you may not notice until it is bit too late.
Now..."weirdness" I was playing the other day with an app that 'talks' to my hearing aids and I set them to "mic+loop" function. I was then surprised to hear a nasty hashy buzz. Very directional but pretty strong. Turned to be from the LED 230V lamp in my living room. This is 6ft above my mixer and AI (M4) and I have never heard or seen the hash before but some of you might have table lamps and power cables running parallel to audio?
Dave.
