alright review!

here's something I noticed: "The only difficulty I had at all using the preamp involved a sensitive 1/4" output jack. I found that when fully inserted, the sound was a bit distorted. I had to partially pull the plug out to get a full signal to the soundcard. This made it susceptible to any movements of the preamplifier. This occurred with a replacement cable as well, neither of which I have had any trouble with in the past."
This seems like a hassle...what do you all think who have this preamp.
I'm thinking I might try for a more expensive preamp, but I'm not sure yet. Is there any that are a bit more and alot better, or is that alot more? thanks!

see gidge your doig PRIZ a favor. thats why i asked you to post a review. so he can see different views and come up with his own opinion. some people like the art pre amps. some dont. some like the pre sonus. some dont. some like digital some dont. its all a matter of PREFERENCE. priz WONT know whats best for him until he TRIES out the gear and comes to his own conclusion. does priz really need a pre that will "color" the sound? this guy is doing hip hop so he needs something more orientated towards that genre. hip hop from the desk top.......hey...that rhymes.....anyway thats what he needs and remember your helping PRIZ with the reviews not czar. czar has his OWN set up. czar takes his digital stuff to a big studio. czar dumps it on tape. czar can afford to spend $50 and hour, czar can afford the 2 inch reels. however czar DOESNT know everything but czar knows that he can get a BETTER sound using the nueman mics rather than the akg c1000's that he owns. czar knows that he can get a better sound if he works with someone who has FRESH EARS. czar knows what sound he wants. czar knows that in order to compete you must have a polished product. czar knows for a fact that the most expensive gear wont get you an expensive sound. czar knows it all depends on the person PUSHING BUTTONS AND TURNING KNOBS. czar knows you can have a ssl board and still suck....czar knows that every hit wasnt done on pro tools. czar knows everyone doesnt use antares pitch correction...........czar is bizarre

czar

ps remember your helping PRIZ not czar

if this is really "hip hop from the desktop", i'd go for the omni, a presonus blue max and a RNC, one or two mics and a set of powered monitors......the omni does have two mic preamps (a condition of the original post here). as far as software to consider: fruity loops, reason, rebirth, acid pro, sonar, sound forge 5, Ntracks, T-racks, goldwave.....you can actually get up and going with a midi studio using freeware...there are a lot of midi seqencers out there....you only have to start paying when you want to record digital audio tracks along with midi...though with products like n-tracks cost isn't a big issue...and from a more global perspective, having a sexy girlfriend wouldn't hurt.

but this is just my stinking opinion...i wonder how repeater fairs at this type uh thaang....

hmmm...

Kinda got the Omni off my mind now, here's the reasons...
Lynx One is from what I've heard much better sounding than the Aardvark, I won't good sound, main concern for me. Omni's preamps are equal or less, but not better than the DMP's. The art tube is apparently, and from opinion much warmer and better, my vocals arn't the greatest I'd like a lil edge. Omni has two preamps and 4 Mic inputs, although this is a nice option I'm almost certain I'll only end up using one at a time, even if I have to switch back n forth from a dynamic back to Condenser, I'm paying for those four inputs. Now for the final points, although the Omni is 500 with it all and the Lynx one is 450 plus an Art preamp I think. So overall the Omni is a much better deal for what I get, but I know that overall my sound will be better with the other setup.
So do you still think the Omni is a better decision...?
and I can do compression through software... :)

PRiZ,

yes you can compress with software .you can even do it in real time with sonar, at least that's the only program i've tried with real time plug ins........however, if you use a hardware compressor moderately for tracking it allows more headroom with the preamps.....a software compressor won't save you from clipping....

though, the lynx has a midi input, the delta doesn't .... but if you have a soundblaster live you can record your midi without latency using soundfonts and then play it back thru soft synths.
