This is a project I just finished up. Monster You Made by Pop Evil. I'd like some constructive criticism, or you can just tell me it's terrible, too haha. This was my first project using Logic Studio 9.

Thanks for your assistance!

I liked the song.

Watch the pitch issues. I'm noticing a few of them. I would lower one of the doubled tracks maybe 6-8 dbs. That will make it less obvious it's doubled.

Some timing issues as well.

The song is missing some low end. I think there's a bass in there. Turn it up.

Yeah. This recording is a friend of mine and myself. I've got all the instrumentals and hes the vocals. I'll lower the doubled tracks a bit. The timing issues stem from me playing along with the original track instead of just a click -- I was admittedly hasty to get the drums down. Yes, there is bass there, and I also felt it was a bit low after listening on some different speakers (here at work).

Thanks for all your tips, I appreciate it. I'll give them a try and see what I come up with!

The song has potential but the mix is bothering me. Just my opinions here but I don't like the big verb on the acoustic guitar, it sounds unnatural to me. There's some pitch issues with the lead vocal, if you can't re-record or pitch correct, I would try to bring the music up to keep the voice from sticking out so much. Some guitar soloing or a keyboard part might help to distract and build up the arrangement which kind of half starts then quiets down again. The bass and drums are under-represented they could come up. I would also do some volume automation to that vocal part to highlight where it is strong and in tune and de-emphasize when it has pitch issues. People are used to hearing pop songs with perfect vocal parts. But i like his voice in general and the song is good.

Strat,

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I've got a tape delay on one of my acoustic tracks. I'm not sure why, I liked the sound of it during the intro and outro, but I can see how it'd get annoying during the song. I just learned how to use the "take" feature in Logic, so in my next recording I'll be taking 5-7 vocal takes, and select the best sections from each take. Again, with these different speakers, I also noticed the lacking bass and drums. I'll give the volume automation a try and see how it sounds.

Again, thanks for the help.
