Now that's funny!
You got a yard of guts girl!
I'm giving you 5 stars just for your reply, the heck with the music!:D

If this ain't a bust and your serious about it,I'll help you and so will a lot of other people here.
You have to understand, there's been a lot of wiseguys,(or gals),around here lately pulling pranks.
That's why you got some of those responses.

The guys around here are really a great bunch, believe me!
So don't give up just yet,o.k.

First thing your going to need is a mic.
You can get one for $20.
If you can afford a computer and connection, you can afford a mic, right?
(If you can't,I'll find you one!)

Maggy,

Sounds like you've taken lessons from another clinic member... Dr. Stawl  Don't worry; he's a good musician.

:D This song was very entertaining... LOL Thanks for the upload Maggy :D

Wow! That's uh... different. Haven't heard anything like that since this dude showed up at a local coffee house with his Ovation Electric Ukalele doin space jams!

God bles ya Sis! Get yerself a small mixer and a real mic and keep riffing away.

Maggie, it's actually pretty good,...

given that it's your first time out recording, as a recording novice seeking advice. Sure, it could sound better, but you can say that about almost anything. Getting a proper mic & mic stand would go a long way toward boosting your production value, as another member mentioned above.

All of our recordings can use work, and sometimes analysis by a bunch of detached, disembodied strangers can help give us different perspectives. That's why the mp3 clinic/forum exists.

This effort really shines, especially as contrasted to one of my all time favorites: WEBCYAN/"mytcbycupjustfell". If you never heard that, you just had to be there. Trust me, this is a gem as compared to that.

Hey, you're playin's pretty good, with a nice rootsy sound, so keep working on pickin & keep grinnin. Not only that, but you're a cute'n, aint'ya?;)

muzeman - thanks hun, you're helpful, i'll get a real mic

participant - okay, i'm just a novelty, a joke... i see how it is

axe4yahweh - a mixer, huh? i'll check it out, thanks for the kind words

reel - thanks for most of what you said

still, i feel like i'm being treated like a total joke. how can you guys complain about the major labels when you're no better than they are? (don't get me wrong; that's only directed to some of you.)

Maggy, I just laughed because it was cute. Sorry if it hurt your feelings.

Yeah girl........no harm was meant, it just takes a second for everyone to shift gears ya' know? I think you'll be surprised how much these guys will help you once everyone gets past this awkward spot. ;)

So lets talk music. How did you record this? What kind of equipment did you have and how did you hook it up? That would be the first place to start. Let us know that and I'm sure we can come up with a bunch of useful suggestions for you. :)

You're welcome,... I guess.

Hey Honey, I don't mean any offense. I just think you're cute, you're playin's pretty good, and the recording's a little raw, but otherwise really good at capturing the moment.

I'm most intrigued about how you used mp3.com to record the whole thing. I think that's the most unusual part. Is there a download for multitracking software on mp3.com, or exactly how did you do this recording? Didn't I hear two guitar parts?

I was a little surprised at first, about what I heard, being just so different than 99% of the stuff you hear around here, but I listened to it very closely, very many times, and I actually like your 'pickin & grinnin' a lot. The recording's definitely raw, but it has tons of expression and personality.

You know, comparing your "Pickin & Grinnin" to WEBCYAN/"mytcbycupjustfell" is not a fair comparison, as your song is by far much better than that, but sometimes I like to mention it because it gives people perspective,... those who've heard it anyway. I didn't mean anything bad toward you on that, so I'm sorry if I offended you, on that or anything else.

Hang in there. You've got a lot of potential, and a nice original sound. Your recordings will improve each time out, and your playin's got lots of character, and an overall feel-good vibe. Oops, sorry for the '70s cliche.

Anyway, the little bit of teasing you got here is nothing compared to a real flamefest, of which there have been many at Hrcom. Just try to have fun if someone gives you a little ribbing about something. Most people are here at Hrcom to have fun & share our passion for music & recording. People may get teased a little, sometimes, but really, underneath it all we all like you. You've got a lot of guts to hop on this board with your music. I know it and other members know it, and we respect you for it. Hang around and try to have fun with it.

BTW, I'm sure that dtb was just speechless out of being smitten by puppy love. dtb's a country-bluegrass player & afficionado, & I can only imagine he has a tremendous crush on you now!;)

I look forward to hearing another piece. It was rather creative and very interesting.

Easy Girl. I wasn't talking about your mix. I've heard others in different catagories at #1 that didn't sound as good as yours.

That ROCKED! Keep it up Maggy!

I finally figured out how to listen to you song. Your recording skills are better than my navigational skills!

Lt. Bob! Ok I switched gears now how do I get back? :D

thanks Reel, and Maggy, I also would like to know about your recording set up. I do hear this chorus/phase thing happening with the guitar that sounds interesting. I remember some of my first recordings and they really sucked compared to your recording sound. More info. What kind of instruments are you playing? How long have you been playing? I've been playing for around 30 years, and homerecording for about 5 years. I've managed to slowly build a small studio area and even went the digital route last year. Anyway, the gear I have has allowed me to improve my playing talent and my recording expertise to a point that I wished I had started this hobby 20 years ago. I've learned more about music, since intering into recording, in a few short years compared to all the playing I've done in the last 30 years. And a lot of help came from this site. I hope you have been and are listening to the tunz in this clinic. They should give you a reference to strive for in your recordings. Here's a few of mine. Please take a minute and listen.

And if my first response to your tune was not what you expected, it was by no means negative. I really felt like "ummmmmmm" after the first listen.
