I seem to have some sort of lantency problem with my Helix board. I'm using Sonar 4 Producer Ed. When recording, the recording line startes to get ahead of where the wav lines are.... Growing further and further apart. So ultimately, when I play it back, it has very significant pops and static....

I've tried 3 different boards (Sent it back twice), 3 different PC's, numerous Mics, Cables (Inst. and Firewire), and set up in 2 different houses to see if there was possibly an electrical interferance. None of these alternations helped at all. I even tried installing Cubase, still had alot of static.

I'm not sure if there's some internal settings I need to adjust, or if there's maybe some updated Firmware out there that I can snag (didnt see any on the phonic website).

I figured I would see if anyone can help me out with this before chucking it on ebay to try a Firepod. I'm pretty new at this, so hopefull I'm overlooking something minor.

Thanks in advance!

Justin

Have you adjusted the Latency Buffer settings in your Software??

also are you useing the ASIO Drivers or the WDM Drivers?? Use the asio drivers as they are much better for most things and will have less Latency...

also your Board should have Direct Hardware Monitoring which should elimitate any Latency while recording or playback....

Good luck

Thats' basically it. Right on the donkey's ass :D

Thanks for the responses... I have been trying to mess with the buffer settings within the Phonic Helix Control Panel. I have no idea what I'm doing tho. I have 3 different types of buffer settings: Stream Buffer Depth, ASIO Buffer Depth, and WDM Sound Buffer Depth. I messed around a little with all of these (Once again, completely oblivious to what I was doing) and noticed the popping and lagging changed, so this might be what the problem is, but it never went away completely. Any suggestions on as to how I should adjust these settings, or where I could go to find out?

GOT IT! Sonar was using the WDM drivers by default, which I didn't know. Switched it to ASIO, and it runs like a champ..

Thanks guys!
